Sorry - this thing is beginning to look like a cross breed between a Rebel and a Tacoma sitting on a Ridgeline suspension.

Grille of a rebel, lights off a Tacoma and sits low like a Ridgeline. Looks more compact than current Tundras and much lower than a Rebel.

 

Really curious to see the towing and payload verified. Looks matter, but I want it to perform.

 

If by compact you mean smaller than the current tundra, you're wrong. If the model shown has to have the front and side marker lights, that model is bigger than the current.

 

I'm pretty sure Toyota will make it if not better then at least the same figures in torque and hp. Only thing what will be really missed is the sound of 5.7 V8 , and i bet for some people that would be a deal breaker.

 

not me got my 2020 trd pro new last may and going to keep it only got 6500 miles on it don't drive it everyday

Whats the biggest size tires you can fit on it? LOL. Oh and is there a hidden winch available for it? Got to start looking t mods.

 

I think this may be one of the few things keeping gas prices from being prohibitively expensive.

 

I am one of those knuckle heads! No V8, no sale! doing a complete cut off makes 0 sense. Bleed in the new engine, let those who WANT to be guinea pigs do so, and prove the reliability. Doing a complete flip... just ain't right.

If they're going to compete with a TRX or Raptor they will have to drop in a twin turbo 8 in the TRD Pro. Maybe it’s more to compete with a power wagon/Tremor/AT4. The open dark area below the grill looks like it might have a winch. Im guessing it comes with 35’s

How did you measure the truck with just a smokey picture of lights?

 

Maybe more like the 2027. 5 years should be good enough for them to work out any kinks

 

Based solely on this picture, I'm not digging it at all, I really wanted to like it. That grille is way too big in my opinion and takes it away from the lines of the nose. Just like Lexus, which has so many awesome looking new vehicles, but the giant grille ruins it for me. I also don't like the square headlights sticking out like this.

 

What's everyone's opinions on bi turbo v6's? I know Ford have been using them for years but never thought them to be reliable or powerful

 

Ford’s 2.7 and 3.5 are both fine engines. They more recently have had issues with their 5.0.

The 2.7 gets great reviews as does the 3.5. The 3.5 is a beast. Both are durable.

There are no issues with a well-executed TT6.

 

It’s not like they rushed the new power plant to market. And, if they have a hybrid, they have more experience with those then any manufacturer. The turbos have low, high, and long torque curve. Stay out of the throttle and have descent mpg. The biggest thing will be oil. Don’t use the cheap stuff and change on time.

 

I like the 4R-style grille but I don't think I'm going to like the headlights.

 

I think if the grill is going to be that big everyone and their mother is going to hate it. Just like they did when the 5th gen runner came out. I think people will grow to like it. Personally I like it.

Payload to carry my FWC I’m in and not in a Ford in a few years. Fingers crossed.

 

Yeah ultimately it's still gonna be a half ton. I know people do it with a half ton but if I was gonna go FWC it would be on a 3/4 ton or higher. YMMV.

 

2.7 EcoBoost: 325hp/400tq
3.5 EcoBoost:400/500
3.5 HO EcoBoost: 450/510
3.5 PowerBoost Hybrid: 430/570

The twin turbos from Ford are exceedingly powerful that deliver hundreds of hp and torque literally thousands of RPM earlier and across a MUCH wider band. Being FI motors, they also perform much better at elevation.

They are also more fuel efficient than comparable powered NA V8’s.

 

I recently was put in a new 3.5eb for work and I've been keeping an eye on the mileage. The hwy mpg is better but the average is barely over my Tundra. I think they perform much better on paper than real life

 

That is why I said comparable power numbers. It has 20 more HP and 100 more foot pounds, and still gets better mileage.

I had one in a work truck for two years. It is substantially more powerful than the 5.7.
