Guys over at TFL posted a video and said that they were invited to a special event at the Texas HQ scheduled for early June (07:25 of video). The event is for a new vehicle release. It has to be the new Tundra!!!

Doing some digging on the video page source and noticed that it appears the video had sound files included in the project. I see references to "780B Engine Audio.mp4". Also from what I can tell the video appears to have been just created on May 12th.

I wonder if they’ll just release the new TRD Pro first and the “regular” Tundras won’t come until calendar year 2022. Thinking if manufacturing has struggled maybe a decision was made to only produce the “flagship” model.

When I brought in the "Grey Ghost" for her 5 month check up, I talked to the service manager about the 22s.
He was pumped up about the twin turbo V6 "hybrid" saying it was going to double the MPG.
Of course me being me I came back with "yeah that's nice but for how long is that little puffer going to last doing truck work."
He then came back and said the V8 would be a "special order" item, so it looks like you'll have to pay a premium if you want the 5.7.
Personally I buy a truck to do truck stuff / heavy hauling when needed.
I'm not worried about MPG since it's not my daily driver.
Toyota has surmised that most Truck purchases are for the daily driver types that rarely do truck hauling stuff.
Time will tell and it will be interesting to see it play out.

Would totally make sense. No marketing dept facing a drooling, rabid fan base eagerly awaiting a new model reveal would showcase the boring, bare bones entry level model. They're going to bring out their top of the line "Signature" jewels to dazzle and impress everyone.

It can look like a Lambo, but if it drives like a Prius, what's the point? No V8, no Thanks. But that's just my opinion.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Toyota has come up with. The outline looks good for sure. I dunno why they feel the need to copy the Raptor amber grill lights though.

So my plans if I buy a 2022 are currently:

    1. Chrome delete, because fuck chrome.
    2. Raptor light delete, because I ain't no wannabe Fordbitch.

    :D :D

I was tempted to sell/trade my Gen 2 end of March, but I saw prices starting to climb so I decided to keep it for 2-3 more years and do the next best thing: upgrades. It is now sitting on a 6" lift with 35s, and a handful of other stuff I added. I figure '23 or '24 after the 1st year of redesign will hopefully be a good time to jump in. So while I have no plans to jump on '22, knowing me I may end up at the dealer a year or so from now if they're clearing out inventory to see what kind of trouble I can get into. But if things don't change with how they're going now, I'll be perfectly happy keeping my Gen 2 for longer, especially since I also don't drive a whole lot and being an '08 barely just cracked 98k miles. It has also been garaged 80% of the time, and the exterior is in great shape minus a few scuffs.
