It always amazes me that no one could say “hey congratulations on your truck”. It’s always bashing somebody for not buying a tundra. Considering Toyota had one of the worst rusting issues out of all the manufacturers.

No need to bash him. I'm pretty sure it's a work truck.

Love it. Is that space white?

will be either getting that spec or the tremor coming out shortly. time to capitalize on the tundra resale before it drops 8-10k

I don't even click on them anymore, waste of time until Toyota decides to release info.

How many miles on it? How's your MPG? I'm guessing the new ttv6/hybrid tundra will be similar.

Nice, I'm stuck in a Chevy work van all day but that's also why the 2016 Tundra has 40 k miles.

Nice find. I snapped this pic from the link. Funny that the ad is for the new LC. Though they do say it's the prototype in the add, it doesn't look super different than the leaked pics. I wonder if the LC will have different bumpers/fascia like 4Runner does? (limited vs other trims)

    It’s possible!
I mean they were talking about releasing a stripped down, basic LC with the upcoming redesign; so who knows??

My dad just bought a new GMC last night. I have to admit that compared to my Tundra, it is very nice and has a lot of extra stuff on it. The way I look at it right now is, if you are comparing new trucks right now, Tundra is down at the bottom. But if you look into the future, and are comparing those same trucks when they are 5-10 years old with 150-200,000 miles on them, my choice would be the Tundra. This is my parents first non Toyota vehicle since 1991. It didn't help that you can't hardly find a Tundra around here right now, but if you take out the long term reliability, Toyota is definitely quite a bit behind.

Hmmm. :monocle: Didn't know that. The LC is so far out of my price range I've never bothered to pay attention to them. Kinda like a Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin, etc. Fully aware of their existence, but they're all made out of unobtainium.

I agree with this sentiment. My paramount concern was reliability and longevity. I want to pay this off and not have a payment again for a long long time. If I was fine having a payment forever I would have gone Ram or Ford on a lease. None of the big 3 are super terrible if you are trading them in for a new one every 3-5 years.

Lol they must mine unobtanium in Dubai then, since that’s where I see the most of these things

but yeah, I’ve heard more than a few rumblings that they wanted to take the LC “back to its off-roading roots”. If they do that, I would imagine the price tag would be a little more realistic.

I had a coworker that went new truck shopping last year. He went and sat in a tundra and asked the sales guy “but what does it do?”.

He then went and bought a GMC Sierra AT4 with all the fancy gizmos and gadgets.

Anyone considering a new GM half ton needs to spend 30 min at that forum. There are issues all over the place, and some of them seem fairly common.

I am convinced I drive the best half ton truck out there. It’s the only one that isn’t trying to have its cake and eat it, too.

When I’m looking at truck specs online, sometimes I have doubts. But when I’m way out in the middle of nowhere with all 5 windows down, camping gear and kayaks in the back, and we’re driving where there are no roads, exploring, and looking for a spot to set up camp, I know I made the best decision for my family and our needs.

It was brand new 2 shifts ago. 5600km on the odometer now. It gets 15/100km which is a little over 15mpg. But it gets idled in the morning and throughout the day steady so the mileage is out of whack.

Same. I've learned over time that the best way to determine what to purchase is to consider the focus of your attention, and then either talk to those who own them, or - better yet - talk to those who FIX THEM.

So I've always cruised forums looking for information on owners' complaints....and it took me maybe an hour or so to realize that reliability was FAR and away my first priority. As such, it was no contest. And as others have said, features are definitely not everything. All those features won't mean sh*t if it's broke down on the side of the road.

When we bought our Tundra, I had my wife drive it. She said "Wow...obviously this has more power/better gearing." I then said "Ok, again...BUT press the tow/haul button."

    Her literal reaction:

    1. "Holy sh*t!"
    2. "Well, I guess we're done looking for our next truck."

    :D

Mine too. I plan to keep this truck for 10 years minimum. I'm paying it off this summer and plan to have no payment for about 5 years or so. I think he felt like he needed to get a truck right now. He doesn't trust his 2000 Tundra right now to tow their camper. Everytime they go camping, it seems like something else pops up. The check engine light popped on this week when they were going camping. They came home yesterday and are leaving Sunday again and they were halfway expecting to have to call me to come pick them up on their way home. The people they were with just bought a new gm and they liked it so that's where they went. I have to admit it's a very nice truck and was my second choice when I bought my Tundra, I hope it holds up for him for the next 10 years.

I'm sure the bashing will commence after this post...

    KingRanch.jpg

I've been drooling over the two tone F-150 King Ranch trim ever since I sat in one at an auto show a couple years ago. I absolutely love the color with a level kit and 34" tires and the interior is so nice.I have visited the F-150 forums to do some research, and there are a lot of threads about big issues with the now prior generation trucks. I even read a thread where a guy asked which year he should look at for a used one, and many flat out told him to avoid certain model years due to engine issues with the 5.0

Come over to this forum and the complaints you see are more about a driver's side grab handle and whatnot. As much as I want the luxury, bells and whistles, and whatnot of an F-150 I can't ignore the issues I read about on THEIR OWN FORUMS!!!!

Similar experiences had by many here. I've eyed the F250-350 with the Tremor package with thoughts of towing a toy hauler, but I'd rather downsize my toys and trailer dreams than risk the reliability. Fully aware than Tundras have issues too, as does any machine, but I like the odds.

Agreed, every manufacturer has their issues, but the issues you read about on here are much less severe than what you read about on the F-150 forums. That said, I recognize people typically only post when they have complaints, and there are plenty of Ford owners who have had no issues. But I personally can see the difference in what the complaints are on this forum compared to others. As much as I want my bells and whistles that Toyota seems to refuse to ever offer in a Tundra, I want reliability more!

Yah, when I saw someone complaining that they could see the foam where their dash meets their windshield I realized some of us are just looking for things to complaint about, and struggling.

Maybe a dumb question - When is the point where not seeing/hearing anything means there will be no '22 trucks on lots in 2021? Anyone with experience of the shortest time a manufacturer has gone from announcing a vehicle to having it land on dealers lots?

If it comes with a 6.5' bed crewmax option and a 500lb+ improvement in payload I'll order one the day it's announced. Don't care about motors, transmissions, number of cupholders, etc.

If it doesn't, I'm seriously considering an F250 with the 7.3 gas motor.

Having a baby in two weeks and want something with plenty of backseat room for car seats and dogs while still giving me a bed I can use for longer/bigger items.
