Hopefully Toyota sells a carbureted engine option.

I guess that would depend on how much traffic you run into on your commute. I’m a huge fan of manual transmissions, up until two years ago I had 24 years of continuous manual ownership. Daily stop-and-go traffic will kill the manual transmission joy.

I don't think 'enthusiast' 'manual' and 'truck' mean the same thing when it comes to 'enthusiast' 'manual' 'sportscar'

No question that modern automatics shift faster and get better fuel mileage than manuals, but there is a reason that 70% of the Porsche 911's ORDERED last year were manual. When given the choice enthusiasts almost always go manual. I prefer an auto in most vehicles, daily drivers, commuters, but in the weekend fun sports car I prefer a manual. If I was planning on tracking or DD my 'sports' car it would be one with a good DCT or ZF box no question. Pleasure driving? Manual please.

I had a BMW M3 from about 2000 until 2019. Manual transmission and loved it. Last year, I wanted to get back in a 2 door Sports coupe, and drove just about everything out there. Comparing same car auto to manual changed the car substantially and the only auto I liked better than the manual was the DCT in the GT500 Cobra. Was brilliant. The GT500 only comes with this trans, but I was able to compare it to a manual GT350, Manual Bullitt, and 10 speed Auto GT (I was at the dealer 5 hours). I ended up in a Black Bullitt Edition Mustang (OMG....I own a FORD... lol) which has a manual. Best bang for the buck and everything I wanted for just more than 1/2 the M4 or GT500 I was looking at.

A manual in a truck? Maybe a stripped manual window no AC work or logging truck......

I guess that's the advantage of not living in the US or a really large city. I used to hit stop and go traffic every day but I was able to start taking another route that had almost no traffic.

Maybe. I was always curious if they would go to one cab that's between the DC and CM in size with a 6' box but it doesn't look like that's the way they're going (and it would probably piss off both CM and DC guys simultaneously).

I am tempted to get the 2022 depending on the final specs.
I really love my 2018 Platinum with 31k miles, but my daughter is pushing me to give it to her and buy the '22

I bought a used 2008 DC SR5 in 2011 and got the new car itch in 2018. Traded with less than 100k for a brand new Ram 2500 Tradesman gas truck cause I convinced myself I "needed" a 3/4 ton truck. I kicked myself from the minute I left the Dodge dealership for getting rid of my Tundra. I got a call from said dodge dealership back in NOV 2020 that they really needed to buy my truck back. I humored them and when they made me a cash offer I couldn't refuse I left the RAM there and started searching for a Tundra. I have every intention of driving my newly acquired 2016 SR5 DC for a minimum of 6 more years and then giving it to my son when he is old enough to drive. I will look at my options for different Tundras then, maybe a 4th GEN, maybe a used 3rd GEN...all depends on what the 4th GEN offers.

I consider waiting for the new Tundra to be more like ‘Chinese Democracy’.

The more you wait, the more people tell you it is going to be great, because, well it was so awesome before.

By the time it comes out, you and the industry will have moved on, it will be underwhelming, nowhere as good as it used to be, and it will come in a bloated version of it’s old self that you don’t even recognize.

    A bunch
The industry will move on? And how has the industry moved on since 2007? So the current Tundra is relevant 15 years after, yet this redesign is going to out of date because it may get pushed back 3-6 months?

Toyota is likely ok with how the pandemic has altered their typical Chicago Auto Show releases since basically the first piece of info we got was a late Q4 2021 release, now they can release details 3-6 months out and keep interest high, instead of doing it 10 months in advance and possibly having people losing interest or having unfinished parts included in the release that get taken out by the time production rolls around. The big things are set (drivetrains, suspension, frame size) but they still have tons of time to perfect interior gadgets (maybe a HUD, a true premium sound system, storage compartments.

The TT v6 pickup has already been done. In a manufacturing timeline everything is already locked in. No way changes can be implemented and sourced by Fall.
