I just got a 2024 801a, coming from a 2012 Tundra RW. The seats are great, but I was also just rolling around in a 14 year old Tundra that had 235k miles on it.

When I was cross shopping the TRD Pro and Raptor these were the major differences I found...some of them might be package/Options/regional differences.

    Raptor vs 801a
No Sunroof - Not a huge deal but I miss it from my Tundra
Roll down rear window - I loved that Tundra feature, the Raptor has a 12"x12" window that slides to the side...it's better than nothing
Seating and seat room is very comparable, the Raptor does have under rear seat storage compared to the TRD Pro due to the battery
Rear seats on the Raptor are heated, not an option on the TRD Pro. I live in AZ and rarely have someone in the back seats.
My Raptor has the HUD, none of the TRD Pro's I drove had that option. It wouldn't make a break a truck for me, it is nice to have
Drive modes - The Raptor is way ahead the TRD in this area. Engine, Transmission, Shocks, Steering and Exhaust are all adjustable with either individual setting or a drive mode change
Power - They are both very close, the Tundra has the added complexity of the battery
Towing - I don't tow more that 6k so either will get the job done, but the Tundra is the winning in this category
Stereo - I think the Raptor sounded better, but honestly never got to really crank up the TRD Pro with music of my choice on a test drive
Off Road - I don't think it's even close, the Raptor is a beast off road. With that said the road manners of the Raptor make it feel like a boat on a calm lake, there is always a gentle side to side or front to make motion. You can stiffen up the suspension with the adjustable shocks though.
Reliability - Who know's? Toyota has a reputation, but a few engine failures...Fords been making the 3.5EB for nearly 15 years now
Residual Value - Both are going to be best in class

It's funny though. You read the comments on Youtube and other sites about the 2024 Tacoma, and there are SOOOOO many people that are like, "efff that, I'm buying a Frontier". Between the price on the new taco and the 2.4L turbo, people are jumping ship.

So I think we will see a pretty decent uptick in Frontier sales.

No, the Tacoma is absolutely in outer space. Its not even on the same level as anything else.

Actual pictures from the Toyota office:

Ohh I gotta chime in on the Taco pricing ! This thing was just out of wash bay when I pulled up to get the new ride today . Sticker price ,, $83,000.00 cdn + tax . Wth ? It’s a nice ride but my gawd man !

note: arb did a nice job with protection ! That rear steel bumper is substantial and even some extra protection for the sensors . The Fox dampers on the rear bump stops were eye catching for me . Never sent that on a stock taco . Adjustable shocks in the seats , blah blah it’s built like a fire road rebel ! Or in my neck of the woods ,, a nice rig for poachin bahahaha !!

The seats make the rear seat leg room almost non-existent.

Raptor is a great truck. Congrats. I recently bought the 802 package with moonroof. Best driving truck I’ve owned.

I think it's the best looking midsize truck, but those seats are such a joke. I cannot believe Toyota went so far in the form over function direction with those.

If I wanted a Raptor, I see nothing in the 802a package that would entice me.

The pictures of the 801a seats make them look like they might be the same as my 23 Lariat seats, just with different covers, and they're excellent. The stitching and padding all looks to be in the same place.

I found an island in the ocean of high prices. A great dive bar that has all drafts for $1.50 pints of Bud, Bud light, Busch, ultra and Amber bock all day happy hour unti 7pm, then $2 after. It’s a pool & dart place. I drop in once and awhile and leave with an $11 tab which I tip more than double lol

I hate that full size pickups have apparently never come with locking gas doors.

    WHAT?!

I think $80k CAD for this is ludicrous and it's a hell of a lot more truck.

That’s so true !!! Wouldn’t buy a GM if it was the last choice but you’re not wrong . I’m not sure what market they are after with the pricing on these ditch bangers but it’s way off a young persons budget imo . Crazy is all I can say
