I have a 2023 Tundra Hybrid that does the same exact vibration on braking and slow acceleration. The braking feels like driving over rumble strips at the stoplight/stop sign. I have taken mine in the the dealership two times. The second time they keep it for almost two weeks. The Master Tech and the Shop Foreman both became familiar with the shuddering. They brought in a Field Service Tech and he also felt the shuddering. They said it was a bad rear differential and they installed a new differential. The new differential did not change any of the shuddering. I asked the dealership to have the Field Service Tech to review the vehicle again and I was told by the shop foreman that this was a normal driving issue. They were not able to identify or tell me the exact cause of the shuddering.

I wonder if all Tundra Hybrids have this issue or just some bad ones?

Personally I would jack it up , remove every wheel , and re install them tightening the lug nuts in proper wheel tightening scenario If some clown went from one to the next to the next you can end up with your wheel torqued " crooked " . That would be my first . It would never happen from factory but then again do any of us know what happens factory to us ?

I have a 2023 Tundra Hybrid Platinum (only 420 miles) and my issue is a vibration that only seems to occur in slow stop and go traffic. When slowing down to under 6 mph (due to traffic) then taking my foot off of the brake and on to the accelerator and just starting to push the accelerator a shudder occurs..doesn't seem to occur at other speeds. Truck is at the dealership, I duplicated the issue with the dealership, and they are waiting for Toyota headquarters tech to advise them on testing. Dealership tech thinks the engine is miss firing. At this time DON'T know when they'll figure this out and I'll get my truck back.....I hope I didn't make a mistake in buying this truck.

Update 7/25/23 got my truck back last Friday and I've put around 120 miles on it without the issue occurring. Quoting the dealer "Vibration is due to brake liner value offset. Adjusted and issue is no longer present." At this time I'm very happy with the truck.

I have a 2023 tundra platinum (non-hybrid) and am getting that same shaking that comes and goes. 4500 miles as of today when I dropped it off to the dealer for the third time with this issue. 1st time they gave it back to me even worse because they just did an alignment/balance and didn't bother to do a road test.

Second visit they did 4 alignments and road forced balanced it five times before bringing in an engineer from Toyota. They had gotten it about 80% better, but the engineer said that they may have had a bad run of rear differentials that isn't perfectly spherical and could cause a slight vibration. They told me to keep driving it and if I had issues they would replace the diff.

After two days, I noticed the vibrations increasing again, and bringing it back today (3 weeks later) it was almost back to where it started. I don't think it's the diff since the most prominent vibrations feel like they are in the front. I'm hoping I can report back with a cause and good news, otherwise this may end up in lemon law arbitration.

This is a hybrid Regen issue. I have a 2023 Tundra Hybrid and have been fighting with Toyota since day one with this. They are calling it a normal condition, which is unacceptable. It is amplified when towing/hauling weight, making braking unpredictable and a safety concern.

I've owned multiple previous generation tundras, Tacoma's, T100's, RAV4, RAV4 hybrid, Corollas, siennas, and am extremely unhappy with this truck.

If you're experiencing this vibration issue, report it to Toyota customer service. We need more people to bring it to their attention so they address it. As of now they believe it's acceptable.

My next step is to report it to Transport Canada.

22' Tundra Platinum Hybrid Stock. I first noticed a vibration acceleration on the highway at 60+ mph. Was able to shift to the standard mode and vibration was only in 8th gear when under load. Has done this since i bought it. Tires have been rotated and lug nuts torqued and vibration continues. Took it to dealer and they said they couldn't detect vibration and no problem.

Update - Toyota Canada called me to say the vibration is normal. After insisting this isn't acceptable on a truck with this price tag, they hung up on me. I'm reporting the issue to transport Canada and changing brands.

I'm a mechanic by trade and have 4 Toyotas in my direct family due to my recommendation (parents with a RAV4 hybrid two brothers with Corollas, another with a RAV4). I'm very disappointed that Toyota's standards have disappeared. The after sale service has been terrible.

Hi all I have a 2023 sequoia with the same issue. I have since escalated this to corporate and they seemed eager to close the case. The technician was not able to replicate the problem. I have filed a complaint with the NHTSA and will attempt to have the dealer fix the issue. If this fails, I’m going seek legal advice. Just to add, my research concluded that this seems like a very common issue with Toyota hybrid vehicles. The new generation Tacoma has just been released and I located a customer who complained of vibration while driving home from the dealership. I’ve also found other post that involves Camry, highlander, Prius, tundras and sequoias. All hybrid. Hopefully, people will notice the nhtsa post and use it to file a class action law suit.

There’s other post that are more active on this forum. One member did a test drive with an fts who acknowledged the vibration and advised him they are aware of the issue. That same fts advised him that it may be an issue with the differential. I’ll post updates here as well.

Try this post, Sounds similar to what I'm going through. Been told its a "normal" noise, however I've driven a new Tundra on the lot after the dealer told me this and that Tundra didn't have the noise....Still waiting on a Toyota Corporate guy to look at it. I have a Platinum Crewmax 4X4 non hybrid FWIW....mine is noise and vibration free above 20MPH...My noise is 15-20MPH only....

I’m currently at the dealership. Shop foreman telling me the vibration, in his opinion, is road vibration. I felt the shuddering while sitting in the passenger seat and he kept saying it’s road vibration. The foreman then told me he will test drive a new model off the floor and if it does thesame thing, that’s just how the vehicleoperates. I’m calling an attorney today andwill see if the media is interested in a newstory about Toyota.

This is happening to me as well. It feels like a glitch in the regenerative braking. It's absolutely not alignment or any kind of wheel issue. I have taken the truck in once already, of course they claim nothing is wrong. I'm think I'm going to try escalate this.

2023 Sequoia Platinum Hybrid same shudder/vibration issue. It is made incredibly worse while towing. The driving experience is miserable. It seems to happen at certain speeds and after going up or down a gradual incline/decline (up and down mountain passes). Was able to recreate the issue with a master tech at dealership who then test drove one of their rental models and re produced the problem. They then said it’s “operating as intended” as a result. I couldn’t believe that response to a repeatable problem on a $70,000 vehicle. Have not solved the problem.

There are several threads on here discussing the same issue, although titled differently. My 23 LTD HV does the same thing. Shudders as I decel from around 30 km/h to 15 km/h. I am still working with my dealer as the last time I had it in I took the service manager out for a drive and he acknowledged the issue. However, I am not hopeful it can or will be resolved. I believe it is ultimately a software issue related to the transmission and the HV regen and some combination of tolerances in the hardware since not all HV are doing it. In playing around I have found that sport mode makes it go away 99% of the time, as does moving the shifter into the S position when decelerating. Certainly not ideal and infuriatingly annoying. One of the many aspects of this truck that are a huge disappointment. I miss my 2020.

Life is short, find another 2020 or 21 while plenty low milage models are still out there.
