2022 tundra gas mileage

This was going to be my question. Have a little over 1,000 and am getting 15.7 mpg on average. Hoping it improves.

live in Florida and this is with the climate control always on.

Love it so far but wouldn’t mind some better gas mileage…

I have a hair under 6k miles and stock I was getting 16.9mpg. With the level wheels and tires I’m getting 15.5 to 16.5 mpg. That’s 80 miles round trips almost daily with speeds of 55-70mph

 

Is this really a thing??? Has anyone else used this chip or other chips to actually attain better fuel economy?

A plug and play, Stage 3 chip, on sale for $90 promising ***5mpg better*** just sounds like a scam and too good to be true.

Have a 2015 Tundra TRD Pro with the 5.7, TRD CAI, TRD exhaust, 295/65r18 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, NO SC or other mods. Currently averaging 15.1mpg. Have a hard time believing this advertisement promising I can average 20mpg with some $90 chip.

Seeing other posts on the fourm about unichip, hypertech chip. I feel like if this were the silver bullet to better fuel economy it would be much more widely talked about...

 

I saw that and felt like it was a scam. I’d love to get 20 out of mine as well.

 

drive highway more and stay below 65 and that shouldn’t be a problem.

Surely, if it was that easy every single GD automotive manufacturer would be using such a device and charging way more for it.

I guess that depends on where you live. The posted maximum speed limit where I live is 100kph (62mph). I regularly drive 90kph (56mph) in the slow (curb) lane and always make way for others to either safely pass me or easily merge in front of me. Been doing so for well over 20 years.

 

That’s exactly what it is. Some folks just don’t understand each area is different. You do 55 on our highway when it’s 70 and we’ll gladly assist you out of the way. I’ve been trying to stay under 70 and it seems to help some. 15-17 mpg is fine, wasn’t expected based on given numbers but oh well. Looks good and drives well. When I close my eyes it feels like I’m in a Corolla lol (only cooler).

 

Makes me truly appreciate where I live even more in that case. Been safely driving less than the maximum speed limit for over 20 years and have yet to encounter anyone 'assisting me out of the way'.

 

When I do 70 mph towing my travel trailer, I am being passed by 18 wheelers and dudes towing 5th wheel toy haulers with HD diesels. Towing limits here in UT are the posted speed limit, which is 80 mph, and people make full use of that. I do 70 because it is close enough to the flow of traffic that I don't become a rolling road block and cause issues but am also not pushing the limits of my trailer tires.

And yeah, I have seen people almost get flattened by 18 wheelers because they were doing 55 mph. This one time I was coming across WY as a winter storm was blowing in and the truckers were bombing so they could get out before the highway was shut down. This guy was in one of those 1980's Toyota campers with 22R doing maybe 55 mph. The trucks came up on him so fast that when one would pull over to get around him, the truck behind him would have almost no time to react and so they were all swerving and slamming on their brakes. I'd be surprised if he made it all the way across without something happening.

Going to slow is just as dangerous as going to fast.

Me with some simple math.
I run the same paths mostly, go to half tank then fill.
It's noticeable and consistent.
The truck puter is not accurate as it averages history.
The chipset works as I've pulled it when not on long trips as it will drain the battery down.
Running the same amount of in town and Hwy, it's less.

 

Where I live yes and depending on how much under the posted speed illegal.

 

Crewmax SR5 with stock wheels/tires. Just did round trip drive (4.5hrs each way) from Denver, CO to Taos, NM this past weekend. Mostly 70-75mph driving with a moderate mountain pass in the middle. Averaged 22.1mpg. Been getting around 15mpg in the city with mostly very short drives. Can’t complain, so far.

 

Respectfully, I would need to read an independent review by a recognized source before I believed that this system does what it says it does.

 

I’ve had my limited 4x2 since first week in December. It’s never, ever gotten above 16.9. I’m a little disappointed, but I love the truck.

drive around in eco last week and it barely did any better.

 

Sorry to hear that, my 2015 4x4 averaged 17.9 on the highway yesterday 75mph Tennessee to ga trip.

 

Look, anyone is entitled to their opinion.
You throwing rocks at a statement with no experience in the matter is a little immature on you're part.
I do not make a habit of wasting my time on this site to lie, I have much better things to do.
With my rig and that chip set, it works well.
I use it when I have some miles to go but leaving it in for extended time periods without driving will drain the battery.
I have nothing to gain in sharing my experiences with an item that I have experience with.
What experience do you have?
Does it make you feel good to go on line and call someone a liar, yet you have no experience?
How about you contact the mfg. and ask for whatever amount of actual users experiences they have.
That would be more constructive than your comments.

Just hit 2500 miles. I drive long distances on the highway for work on a very regular basis. I try to drive at 75mph on the interstate, sometimes find myself going 80. Have not been able to exceed 19MPG. Not as bad as others are saying, but definitely not as good as my Silverado was.
