Because I’ve always wanted a Tundra and when the new body was coming out I knew that was my opportunity. Toyota finally released the MPG ratings and they were within the same range as my Silverado. I pulled the trigger and quickly figured out the fuel mileage sucks and doesn’t match what Toyota claims. 19-21 mpg is what my little Silverado got the whole time I owned it. That was with a leveling kit and factory skinny 33’s. Now I get around 15-16 mpg in the Tundra with a leveling kit and 33’s. Before that I was getting 16.9 and that was several tanks in a row.

This truck has been great and people can say what they want about fuel seasons and how it’s driven. I drive very mixed, but more highway. I’ve driven my Tundra softer than the Silverado but I still can’t achieve the rated mileage. I will say, if you drive 55 everywhere and never idle then it can be done. That’s not realistic around here in my parts of Texas. The speed limit is 75 and the twins hate it lol.

Again, I love the truck and I’ll deal with it.

Just an aside. If you go to Chevy's website, they tout the new Silverado as the "most advanced Silverado yet". That is just about the absolute worst way to market that truck, given their recent very glitchy history.

From 21 to 22 models they did do some updating. To me it’s the same stuff my Tundra has besides the mpg lol

I've been getting 16.1 through the last couple tanks with 285/75r18 Duratracs and stock height, mostly freeway driving ~70-75 mph. My 21 CM got 12.2 with a level and 295/70r18's so I'm pretty happy.

Nice. I'm a 285/75 guy as well. I get 14 combined. If you're not correcting your computer's readout, then that 12.2 is actually 13.04. The 295/70R18 has a 6.9% larger circumference than the 275/65R18s that came on the '21, so you gotta multiply your dash readout by 1.069 to compensate.

Regarding your '22, you need to apply the same correction. What was your stock tire size before you made the jump to 285/75? EDIT: looks like the '22 SR5 comes with 265/70R18. The 285/75R18 is 6.7% larger in circumference. Therefore a dash readout of 16.1 is actually 17.12.

I bet your MPG takes a bigger nose dive from lifting the front end a couple inches. This seems to always have affected mine more than bigger LT tires.

I also got 19 to 20mpg on jobsites and 23 to 25 on long trips. 2021 silverado 4x4 crewcab long bed. I got rid of it because at 28,000 lifters failed, bent a few push rods, and trans down shifted hard into first. I got the Tundra to see if there is any truth to Toyota being more reliable. I am getting mid 16 mpg with Tundra.

It's not using alot of the oil pressure guage space is it? I think that's a good average MPG

I drove 4 hours to the beach this weekend. About half the drive was 60 mph. The other half was 75 mph. I averaged 19.5 mpg. No complaints here 65CB8239-CC02-4A66-9A13-F462480DAFB5.jpg

My baby gets terrible gas mileage. Worst mileage I've ever had in any vehicle, BUT, I love her so much and I just accept her crappy mileage. The milage itself isn't the crappy part. The crappy part is the horrible fuel prices being driven up by all the people who don't even have to buy fuel!

The oil pressure gauge raises when you step on the gas but when you're cruising it starts to drop and stays around 1/4

Factory epa is 17/22. You modified yours with larger heavier tires and increased the aerodynamic drag by lifting the front and get 1mpg less than epa. Not what you expected?

17 City, 22 Highway and 19 combined. Stock, the best I got on a whole tank was 16.9 and my usual drive is mainly highway with some city. Approximately 80 mile round trips four days a week with speeds ranging 55-75. With the leveling kit, wheels and tires I’m getting approximately 15 mpg, small but an expected loss. This truck should have easily gotten 20 stock the way I drive just like my last truck and it didn’t. My last truck was rated at 19 city, 22 highway and 20 combined. Which I achieved 20 with a leveling kit and I drove faster, that was through all the seasons. I peepaw this Tundra around and have barely achieved the city rating stock. One tank recently (after wheels, tires and level) was an impressive 17 after some long hauls. I believe that was because it was a 150 mile round trip, so I’ll claim that as a highway rating I guess. So the EPA rating is garbage. It’s also the first vehicle I’ve owned that hasn’t achieved at least EPA, but it is what it is. Hope my tiny rant answered your question

Oh you guys are gonna hate me.
I did put a chip set in it though but, Around town 17 and on the road, 21.
    Problem is that it's a 2021 Tundra 5.7.
I only have 6k miles on it.
Just keep your foot out of it. It's not a car.

It's an illusion. Drove it like a 5 or 7 ton and this is what happens. I'll get a better idea of my real mpg when I go back in the office full time starting this week.

Engines are extra tight when new.
They do need mileage to wear together.

I'd say at 5-7k.it'll be broken broken in.

But after 2500 miles it'll be improving. It'll feel smoother and stronger, and better mileage.

Not terrible. 90-km trip at 100 km/hr with 250 lbs of payload. Mostly flat road. Equates to 20.6 US mpg. Should be possible to break into the 10s (22-ish mpg) in summer with no payload.

This was going to be my question. Have a little over 1,000 and am getting 15.7 mpg on average. Hoping it improves.

live in Florida and this is with the climate control always on.

Love it so far but wouldn’t mind some better gas mileage…
