During this trip our SR5 2WD Crewmax odometer turned over 15,000 miles. 95% of the driving was on 4 lanes & interstate in NC & VA running speed limit with cruise control on, with some back road driving, too. 510 miles round trip yielded 23.8MPG calculated by miles driven and gallons used. Stock truck with street GeoLandar tires.

    Love driving this Truck!

I think one issue is how drivers are calculating mileage. I have a 22plat 4x4 with 34.1 tires and drive in sport mode majority of the time. As speedo is obviously off you have to account for larger diameter tires in the hand calculations.

In 80-20 City to highway with regular stop and go traffic and multiple stops and starts I got 16.3.
(A 2019 got 11.5 in same area and similar drive).

What does the display on your dash read for mpg?

I’ll have to double check tomorrow as I really never leave the screen on that setting as its been so inaccurate, especially with the o/a 5% correction needed for the larger tires.

    I'm averaging 15.6 wit a 2021 5.7 I idle 3 to 4 hours a day and drive alot on jobsites.

It's hard to believe people getting under 15 with the new trucks. I always beat epa mpg.

412 total miles thus far. Mix of city, highway, and rush hour commute totals 21.1mpg on the confuser. No hand calculate as still on first tank of 87 octane.
4wd sr5 crewmax. I keep the rpm 3k and under but overall quite happy for first tank mileage.
It's making it more difficult to put the level and 35s on...

Just minor stuff. For example, Undercover bed cover, Tufskinz custom door sill protectors, and TRD air filters.
Personally I think the Eco Mode is worse than Normal. I just did the recommended 10 mi drive in 4H to lube gears, etc. Speed limits were 45 and 50 and I averaged about 53 mph, a couple of light stops and some construction on the route. Mileage was pretty good using 4H in these conditions I guess. 5B62CBC9-6880-41C3-AFFD-A652DD79A996.jpg

I just completed a 3-week, 4,400 mile trip last weekend. I estimated my average fuel efficiency to be around 12.5 mpg with my rear seats and truck bed both fully loaded. It says 11.4 mpg on my dash, but I have to take into account the 37" tires I'm running that gives me a 10% error on my odometer and speedometer readings.

This is the route I took...

    Katy, TX (home)
    Denver, CO
Rawlins, WY (took the I-80 west to Utah and had to drive through an afternoon blizzard for about an hour and a half before I decided it was getting too dangerous driving in the snow)
    Ogden, UT
Las Vegas, NV (stayed there for a week for the SEMA Show)
    Death Valley, CA
    Bishop, CA
    Lone Pine, CA
    Johnson Valley, CA
    Los Angeles, CA
Katy, TX (took the I-10 east from CA through AZ, NM, and TX)

I was expecting the MPG to be under 10 and I am glad it was better than I what I expected.

I hit 25 mpg on a 15 mile run between job sites the other day, in eco mode and CC interstate doing about 65.

Eco only seems to be good at highway speed on flatland. Otherwise I despise it.

Getting around 16 mpg with hybrid, but I'm still <500 miles. Not going to pay attention to mpg until I'm in the low thousands on the odometer. Mix of Eco and Sport modes, but mpg seems to be about the same with either right now.

I’m wondering if all these results would be more conclusive if you include which tundra you have . How many miles on it . Hybrid or not . Where you live ‍♂️

I just did a trip from Nashville to about 50 miles south of Chicago. Overall about 1250 miles round trip. Truck only had 240 miles on it when I left. Only mod was 275/70R18 Falken Wildpeaks which are quite a bit heavier than stock and a Retrax. Outside temp probably averaged 35 degrees. Almost 100% in eco mode at 75mph on cruise running 93 octane. Non-hybrid SR5 Premium Crewmax with TRD Off Road.

According to computer, I got about 17 mpg on the way up. They way back I averaged about 13.9, but I had a big crosswind all through Illinois. I wasn't expecting great mileage but would lying if I though it would be under 17 on the highway, even with new tires. It's not my daily driver so not a huge deal, but it should do better regardless.

I averaged 18.7 in a brand new 2023 sr5 4wd 3 weeks ago on a 400 mile trip back from Texas averaging 78 mph. Today I towed an empty 3500 lb dual axle trailer for the first time on a 500 mile trip. Range was 9mpg-10mpg depending on hills doing 70-72. About 1 mpg better than the 2020, but the 2023 tows with much less effort. It has so much more power at highway speeds, and does not work as hard as the 2020 going up hills. Tomorrow the trailer will have a load to go home so anxious to see how it does. So far I am very happy about the improvement.

Computer mpg. The tires are only slightly bigger than stock so I don’t expect it has a huge difference due to size, but I am sure weight had a big impact. I should have written down the gallons each fill up, but didn’t so have no idea how far off it may be from actual mileage.

I realize now I stated the wrong size tire. I put on 275/70R18. I changed it above as well.

Give it a while. When it breaks in a bit I bet you see much better mileage.

I had the same experience with my F150. Drove from MA to Utah when the truck was a month and a half old/1200 miles and averaged 13 or something ridiculous. After 5000 or so miles the truck really loosened up. Now I have to work to be below 15.5 on 315/70R17 KO2’s.

Also, winter will probably drop your mileage by 10%. My truck would drop from 18.5 average to 17 like clockwork every fall, and come back in the spring. I dont know what it is but the cold just pisses it off.

Im in Katy too, small world. Awesome truck man. Did you have any issues fitting the winch with the bumper? There was a guy on the fb page with the cbi bumper who had problems. I know yours is LilB, just wondering.

Winter blend fuel, plus colder denser air to push out of the way and combust. Your truck probably makes more power in the cold air, but to balance the air fuel ratio will want to run a bit more fuel.

People really ought to educate themselves before posting their new MPG number after changing to larger tires. A special thanks to all of you who have posted in detail regarding the tire size, etc. AND if you are accounting for the larger diameter!

@romanlegion - Thanks for being specific

180 mile drive today. Two lane highway most of the way at roughly 65mpg. Limited 4x4 with 6.5 foot bed. Stock truck with no changes other than cosmetics. I can’t be happier with the truck and lineage Usually average 19.5 to 20 without babying it 9CA35736-2573-473D-B303-D00D082CDD29.jpg

Eastern Canada here. Running stock 265/70/18 Michelin LTX on a 2022 Crew max SR5 Offroad 6.5' bed I was getting 12 L/100km (19.6mpg) all summer with mostly in city driving.
Changed my tires to load E general grabber Arctic in same size two weeks ago and am currently getting 15 L.100km (15.6mpg) for the same drving. Obviosuly tire weight and cold weather play a huge factor in fuel economy.

    Last Trip: 310.6 miles

Avg - 15.2 MPG. Tundras avg mpg screen gave me the exact readings.

80 percent of this is around town driving with speeds less than 40mph usually.

I know my first service is at 5000 miles, but I will be changing out the oil at 1k before pushing it. I switched to normal driving mode for this tank of fuel to see what it can do.

Has anyone had any better results with eco mode? I usually only use it on the highway, as I feel it accelerates less aggressively when using cruise control.

I got 25 mpg in eco mode on the highway the other day at around 60-65 mph. I only use ECO IN Cruise control, otherwise I really don’t like it. In town driving it helps to have quick response. I have SR5 TRD off road so only 3 pavement modes.

Not sure how you’re getting above 20mpg either!

My non hybrid 2022 has about 1300 miles on it. I swapped to 275/70/18 SL tires and weather is around 32F now. I can get 18-19 on highway driving but only 15-17 around town (hand calculated, adjusting ~1.8% for the tires). I leave it in eco mode and avoid braking as much as possible

hoping it improves as it continues to break in

I got my 23 Platinum hybrid a couple of days before making a semi-regular trip to Dallas. I made it 160 more miles on the 32 gallon tank than I did with my 17 or 21 with the 38 gallon tank.
I think the truck is showing a little over 15 mpg after about 1200 miles of driving. My 21 was showing around 11. I have a pretty heavy foot and also spend quite a bit of time sitting in the truck with it running.
I’ve only had to fill up once a week so far not counting the Dallas trip. Used to be 2-3 times a week on my previous Tundras.

I have a 2022 Limited TRD Offroad with LEER topper. 5000 miles on the truck. 15 mpg in city driving. 18.9 mpg at 78 mph. 22 mpg at 68 mph. 25 mpg at 55 mph. It’s about 50% better mileage than the truck it replaced - my 2005 Tundra Limited 4x4 Crew cab. I wish the V8 was still available, but the engine is POTENT, and so far I’m really impressed with the truck. (Except for the persistent door chime and auto start-stop features which I despise).

I have 2700 miles on my Limited 4x4 OR 5.5’ bed. Drove 210.2 miles today which was around 90 mi each way, 1 stop down, 2 stops back, then 2 more errand stops before getting gas. Mostly highway at 70-75 (a bit at 80) and some stop and go local stuff. Overall was 21 mpg even. No bad but lookin for better as it breaks in more.
