If you can afford to wait, you should. Rates are up and banks are less willing to fund 100%+ loan-to-value. Dealers are going to be in a stage of denial but will start dealing once these vehicles stay on the lot for a bit.

I’ve now turned down 4-5 exact Tundras that I’ve wanted since the beginning of September. Just turned another one down today actually. Missed a call from another dealer as well so i assume allocations landed.

My 2018 Tacoma was hit by a dingus who should not been driving on the road a few days before I was offered two different Tundras… now I’m waiting for it to be fixed before I buy a tundra.

The one today was a 2023 limited crew max 4x4 with 6.5ft bed arriving in 6-8 weeks. I told him my story and he really pushed to make a deal. Not sure if it’s a sign times are changing or not.

Yea I would think 2023 would be a much more appealing model year - if only to stay away from the 2022 model year stigma of poor build quality kinda like watch out for certain Porsche models built prior to 2009 for various debatable reasons…

Got this yesterday from a dealer here on VA…unbelievable. Limited Hybrid… it’s actually sickening what has been happening.

    Side note:

I put in three deposits at three different dealers in three different states when they said they would start building the 22 Tundra Pro. First dealer to offer me a truck was Toyota of Boerne (near San Antonio, TX). He was dead serious when he said they were asking "$101". I asked if he was referring to pesos and he said no, American Dollars. Then followed it up with: "make us an offer around $90k and our management will consider it."

For a dealer jacking that much markup in a market in which the Tundra is 5th in truck sales is amazing. LoL

I wound up buying from O'Brien Toyota in Indianapolis, IN. I paid MSRP and the entire process was seamless; even considering I was buying from out of state (return customer).

Last week I was offered a TRD Pro Tundra for $15K ADM. When I laughed and said “No way I’m paying that, I’m next on list for a Pro at MSRP from my local dealer, I’ll just wait it out”. He responded with “How about $10K ADM and the dealers saying they sell at MSRP don’t sell at MSRP when the truck arrives”

Still waiting for allocation, but thankful for the 22’ SR5 I currently own.

I've noticed that the hybrid tax is very strong.
Fortunately, for the Tundra, the hybrid "isn't worth it" unless you are just looking for more power.
The 2 Toyota dealerships near me have been slowly reducing their AMV and/or add-ons, and I've noticed that their inventory of Tundras is the highest I've ever seen.
A correction is coming for non-hybrid Tundras, those who want a hybrid version may still be facing mark-ups.
Even if a dealership is advertising markups, go try and negotiate. I've found many times they haven't even installed the "accessories" yet and you can talk them down.
I'm still waiting for slightly below MSRP myself.

Bought my 4x4 Limited this last Saturday. Pinged about 15 dealers from autotrader ads, all came back with a $5k-$8k market adjustment. One that didn’t respond was Toyota of Rockwall (local to me - Dallas, TX), and when I called I just asked if they are selling it at msrp and they said if I came by right then they would do it. They honored it at msrp + $500 for tint/wheel locks and gave up on the “required” protection packages they charge “everyone” for another $2.5k when I said that wasn’t the deal when I called. Window sticker still showed the $5k market adjustment and $3k in dealer add ons they were advertising it at.

Another good sign the craziness might be coming to an end with these price adjustments and selling off the semi truck while having zero inventory on the lot….

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
    I’ll wait longer.

It will be fun to watch a lot of these dealers get crushed by the recession this time next year and into 2024.

Absolutely. I have no sympathy for the consumers that propagated it either, at 100%+ LTV in many cases.

“What do I care about how people spend their money?”

The thing is, it wasn’t theirs, they borrowed it, and it affected everything else.

    Popcorn is ready.

Yep zero sympathy for stupid people with no self discipline who just had to have the new toy.

I hope they’re so upside down in their new car or truck they have to be buried in it.

    Yep.

I have spent the vast majority of my adult life to this point trying to live within my means, and make responsible financial decisions. That means I voluntarily “go without” a lot of luxury items, or unnecessary spending. Instead I save for the future and delay gratification. I arrived here be learning some lessons the hard way, but I did learn.

There seem to be a lot of people who haven’t learned yet, or who didn’t have the lesson sink in last time. They’re about to.

These stealerships have been in a sales realm they have never seen before, but the tide is changing just need need new inventories to come back to some normal levels to really bury them. I think in a year or more the used car market will be very favorable to consumers I mean think about how many people are so upside down in value.

Saw a Red 22 crew max that had black leather interior from what I saw. The mirror caps were body matched in the red and they were retractable with the key it looked like. The front chrome pieces were in the dark grey color.

Does anyone know the model that come with retractable mirrors and door handle black but mirrors caps painted from the factory???? Just curios it’s the first 22 that looked decent to me?

Yup that was it!! Nice looking truck in person. I had passed it and it was parked and for me to go back and look would have meant doing something herky jerky turning and there was an LEO behind me so I just proceeded on my way. They have enough to do without me mucking up things!!!:)
Anywhos that was the best looking 22 I have seen!!!:) but I still won’t trade mine!!!:)

When are we going to get to the time , and Lord knows I will regret it , when Amazon is selling these cars, click options , buy , delivered ? There are archaic car dealership rules in place right?

I already bought a tundra, but another dealer that had my name down has an incoming 2023 TRD pro in Solar octane coming in tomorrow. I negotiated a reasonable ADM of $5k so if anyone's interested, let me know otherwise, they'll offer it to their list. Figure I try to help someone looking...

    LOL…. “Reasonable ADM”

There’s a sucker born every minute.

How about no ADM? Why not just let dealers that want to be shitbags collect inventory?

Do you really have to have a TRD Pro that bad? It’s not special, it’s not exotic, it hasn’t gotten anything but mediocre reviews, it’s not going to go up in value. So why would anyone pay more than MSRP for one?

    To each their own brother.

I get it, this isn’t a peasant model and sticker is out of reach for most people. Look at what G-wagons and other high ends are going for. It’s a whole different level of dbaggery by both dealers and angry customers.

While I can understand your frustration and hostility, there are people who value money differently than you and I. No need to get upset about it because it’s like pissing in the wind.

It's not a "bad economy" that's gonna give dealerships a reality check, it's the interest rates.

It hasn't been settled yet if the economy is collapsing, it's wobbling pretty badly though....

However, the interest rates going up is real deal.
I think a lot of the shenanigans that were going on stemmed from HELOC loans and over LTV schemes.
High interest rates should help in 2 ways...
    1. Obviously affects monthly payment
    2. Higher interest rates bring down real estate values that were too high and people were getting HELOC at inflated home value and stupidly low rates..... this one's a double whammy.

This last 2 years have sucked for me, I set aside a certain amount of cash to buy a new vehicle outright, and between AMV and dealers who no longer gave 2 fooks about cash buyers, I've been priced out.
It was ridiculous to even think MSRP is a "good deal" WTH....
