I live in San Diego where the mark up is insane (pretty much all of California). I have family in Phoenix and am there fairly often. I found a dealership in Phoenix that sells for MSRP (actually their slogan). I literally got out the door with my '22 Army green SR5 DC 4x4 for factory sticker MSRP. My salesperson was a gem. Her name is Deb Sims. All of the other stealerships in Phoenix were adding different crap and overcharging for it. Not Avondale Toyota!

My son has been on a notification list for a Capstone with a dealer in Cool Springs, suburb of Nashville. They called yesterday and said one was on its way and wanted to know if he wanted first dibs on it. He asked about price and was informed there would be a market adjustment of $25k plus idiotic fees. CRAZY!!

Did anyone work with a dealer out of state who was really good? Apparently I can't get two mirrors in my region, so looking for alternatives.

No visible Markups but they go around it by adding mandatory film protection that is 1200+

Markup is pretty much everywhere and I think has gotten worse. They think we won’t remember who took advantage. I refuse to pay one cent over msrp. If everyone did, they would change their behavior. But there’s too many people willing to overpay.

Royal Moore Toyota. Minimum $3,490 on every Tundra for exterior, interior, and windshield protection. There is also a markup depending on what model you get. Guy wouldn’t say how much that range is. They better get it while they can I guess.

Edit: When the guy via email said he had new Tundras on his lot I figured they must have had some terrible markup.

I found a hybrid (not trd or capstone) that just arrived and called the dealer. They are asking 24 grand OVER msrp. I said that's f'n crazy and have one for MSRP coming end of month. He said he would pay me 10k over for it, I said 20k, he said call me when I get it. So sad.

For 20k I would have half a mind to sell it to the but...screw them.

All the dealers in NE Florida are either charging market adjustments ($20k! for a 1794) or the mandatory dealer add-ons ($2k for tint and nitrogen, which is laughable). Looks like I'm going to have to expand my search as I refuse to pay over MSRP, period. I'm in no hurry to buy and can wait for the right dealer to not be greedy. I won't forget their markups come purchase time, especially if we're in another recession and they're actually offering reasonable deals

My local dealer, Uebelhor Toyota in Jasper IN, sells at MSRP but my salesman says Tundra allocations are running at 10-12 months. They require a $500 deposit to order. Just as a data point.

This is the dealer that sold a 4x2 for about $2,600 below msrp really early on while the 4x4’s were $177 below msrp.

Then they dropped their discount and added their clear care junk to every Tundra for $1,500.

This is their first discount in a while and it’s a 4x4. I think they have had it a few weeks and they are already discounting it. One has to wonder how quickly the rest would be discounted if they too sat for a few weeks..

When I was searching for my 21 Pro (Oct/Nov last year), this dealer (like the others in the area) were well above MSRP. I thought coming to a smaller town (from a major metro area) meant more of the 'we take care of our own', but apparently that's BS. I can't go anywhere without people telling me to buy everything local. My local dealer had (2) '21 Pros inbound and wouldn't budge from their $5k markup. Fuck 'em... I found one in Idaho that was priced @ MSRP and paid for the transport (still cheaper than MSRP plus dealer add-ons, etc...).

Now my local dealer can handle all of my warranty work (if there is any) for the next 125k miles!!!!

Same dealer is cutting prices on their Tacoma's now with no clear protection junk added either.

    upload_2022-6-26_15-21-18.jpg

Hope this continues! I just picked up my title for my 2018 Tacoma yesterday. Cleaned the interior today. Maybe I should sell it while the market is still hot..

    Stock....for now
Got my 22 SR5 with TRD OR Premium package from Fred Haas in Houston. I attached the pricing sheet because I couldn't seem to find my original window sticker. Ended up being 64K OTD and no haggle room, they were super easy to deal with and just happened to have one on the lot so I couldn't let it just sit there.

I'm sure these dealers have all been on conference calls w/each other and solidified their positions by agreeing to not go below certain price points to keep their margins high as a group.

The bottom is starting to open up on this though as rates continue to climb. I saw our local dealer had turned 2 Tundras this weekend, and as of yesterday one was back on the lot. It would suggest the deal probably unwound. I'm guessing financing is going to become more stringent in terms of parameters for getting approved, and these dealers will soon only be able to sell these trucks at these prices to those that are overqualified and really don't need the loan.

For those looking to buy, if it's not an absolute necessity right now, hold off and things should start swinging the other direction...

Yes, I agree. I see a substantial market correction looming on the horizon. There will be ample buying opportunities in the next several months even in light of the chip shortage.

Capitol Toyota in Salem is still at MSRP. They like to sell to very local only though. I live about 45 mins away, but parents live about 15-20mins away. Just gave them their zip code ha They have a limited double cab that someone just backed out of and gave me dibs. I am looking for a crewmax though.

Wilsonville is still $250 below msrp (went in yesterday as its 1 min from work) and they offered me a double cab limited that someone just backed out of as well.

Both are 4-6 month wait for Limited CrewMax long bed. Most dealers are that are MSRP or lower. The ones above MSRP or have ADMs have Tundras on the lot to sell it seems like.

Edit: One thing to note is that Capitol was adamant about selling at MSRP with no dealer add ons. Then the guy brought up their used 2022 Limited crewmax for $75,000.... yes, $75k for a 55-60k truck. He said thats just the market for used 2022 Tundras. I told him i'd buy a new one at MSRP and sell it back to him for $10k to give him a deal. He ignored that part of the text ha

I live in Bend, OR but found what I was looking for from Lassen in Albany. They were cool with me coming out of the area. Some dealerships in the I-5 cluster of dealers wouldn't deal with people 100 miles away. My local dealership was 4-6 months out and I was offered a friends and family deal so no markup. I know they are marking up but I don't know how much. Lassen, where I got mine is making you pay for ceramic coating, paint protection and fabric treatment. Their philosophy is we're gonna make you pay for something you normally wouldn't. In my case, the clear bra and door edge protection is fine with me, we use cinder on the roads in the winter so extra protection is ok with me. In the end I was just happy to find exactly what I was looking for and get it within a month and a half of losing my last truck. It happened pretty quickly and I am happy overall.

    Congrats on the truck!

If you are talking about Kendall of Bend then I imagine their markup is around $5,000 just like Kendall of Eugene...

Good to know about Lassen of Albany adding ADM. Beaverton started doing that recently to their popular models.
