Weird my passenger side is solid. Not a squeak.
In fact if I push the passenger side it just makes the drivers side squeak

Ok lol, so I always believed that it's my rear window rattling when I lower it and drive over bumps. Dealer told me it's normal...

But now, thanks to this thread, I realized that it's actually the bed that's making all this rattle noise!

Any chance that I can make dealer do these fixes to quiet down the ratting?

in my case my dealer said it’s normal because all tundras they test make the noise so I got nothing fixed, 3 times and nothing they can do.

so I did it my self similar to what has been posted here, I added rubber washers from ace and it’s better now not completely gone but I can now drive with the rear window down.

I just scheduled appointment with my local toyota dealership about this.
Clearly the issue is there, and they can move around the bed to hear the rattling... they should be able to find a way to dampen it down.

I have a heavy ARE DCU camper shell ready to go onto my truck right after i figure this issue out. Maybe this issue will go away on its own because of camper weight, or maybe the rattling will still be there, but now it wont be easy to troubleshoot because she shell will be on top of the bed!

Before i did the rubber washer anytime I had weight in the bed I couldn’t hear the noises this was from hauling hay and wood shavings for the goats and that was a good 200lbs of stuff.

The McMaster washers OD wasn’t large enough. I didn’t think to measure the ID of the tube that the bolt goes through and it was just small enough to fall right into that space. I went to Lowes and grabbed these nylon waters which fit perfect. Ran a couple of days with no issues or sounds.

Did this today as well as the o-ring for the tailgate cables. No more bed rattles! Thanks @4wd TRD PRO & @bsulli91.

bsulli91 did you put those washers on top of the bed (under existing bed bolt washers) or between the bed and frame?

Between the frame mounts and the bottom of the bed crossmember.

Did you get any responses to this issue? I have this same issue with my 2023 Platinum. It's so annoying and shouldn't be normal at all for as much as we paid for these trucks. Window is awesome how it rolls down but I doubt I will use much if not resolved. Thanks

you sure its not the chain on the spare tire clanging that you can now hear with the window down?

i know on my 4runner, i can hear the spare tire chain a lot louder with the window and rear seats down.

just throwing out other possible issues. could pin point the noise if you have someone else drive and sit in the back with the window down. sit in the rear passenger side and fold the driver side down since it folds a larger section of the back seat down.

I guess that's a likely possibility and something I will have to check on. I am assuming it's the window because it sure sounds like the window but may not be. Thanks

Yes, took it to the dealership with the OP instructions.

Test drive with tech, he confirms noise. It's from the bed area... Rattling over bumps.

They supposedly tried to check everything but didn't find any issues, don't want to follow OP instructions as it's not what Toyota tells them to do. Supposedly opened ticket with Toyota regarding this.

And they scratched my truck at dealership while at it, so it's in their body shop now...

My truck took one for the team

I'm sorry you had to take one for the team for nothing. I hope you weren't as calm when it happened as you seem now.

@bsulli91, I am curious to know if your fix has been permanent in nature? I added some nylon washers under my bed between the frame and the bed rails and the bed has never been more quiet- for about a week or so. Fast forward and the noise has come back. Anyone have this problem? Curious to know what the end all be all solution is that anyone has come up with? I loosened the bed bolts and the noise goes away, so I am know I am on the right path. Thanks in advance.

Mine has been quiet for a few months with temps from the 30's to the 90's and about 7k for miles. I didn't use the washers but good quality grease. I am calling mine fixed.

Thanks for the reply. I assume you put grease in between the frame and the bed rails? Did you load it up, or just put a dob under wire each bed bolt passes through the rails into the frame of the truck? Talk about annoying….

A decent coating where the rubber pad touches the frame of the truck. I also put grease on the bolt and bolt head in the bed. Any flex the bed or bolts make are now greased.

It’s pretty easy you need someone to help you lift the bed.

Remove all bolts from the bed them crawl underneath and have the person helping you to lift the bed like about 1” then place the pads between the frame and the bed do one by one, you don’t have to make holes on the pads they are soft and the bolt can be pushed through.

I also added the same pads to the bottom of the bolts washer.

Just loosen the bolts and grease between them...took 15min, also do between the OEM rubber pads and frame. Fixed all my noise, I had no reason to put anything between mine.

Nope, mine did not have these. I wonder if these have a part number now, and are on the system.

Mine has these and I still have a clunking/shaking like sound when rear axle goes over moderate to large bumps. Will try the grease option this weekend.
