With the price and lead times of these new toppers I am looking at a short term solution for an upcoming trip. Stopped by my Leer dealer over the weekend and quoted close to $5k! Looks like there have been a couple Silverado caps installed successfully. Anyone else know of any other truck models that might be in the ballpark? Thinking about doing something along the lines of what @Jack Straw did earlier in the thread.

For which model and extras? I finally pulled the trigger on an 100XR last week. Windoor on passenger side and roof rack rails were the only extras she charged me for. N/C for headliner, drop down front window with slider or remote lock. I paid $3300 otd, with tax and labor. Keep in mind, I did call several Leer dealers, even in Az (I'm in San Diego) and obviously went with the cheapest. The price fluctuated quite a bit from dealer to dealer. I would spend a few minutes and make a few calls, you might get a better price by doing so.

Interesting, thanks for the tip! This was for a 100XR, with headliner, windoors, keyless, and thule rack. What you paid is more in line with what I was anticipating.

Had a Leer 100XR installed last week. Carpeted headliner, removable front window. Looks/fits great. When I ordered it (at the beginning of March) they said 16-18 week lead time, it was actually 19 weeks before it made it to my installer, so be prepared to wait a while if you order one.

Looks great! You were waiting for them to make/finish the mold. Its done now so lead time is back to 4 to 6 weeks... so I'm told.

Did you ask for no Leer logo's or did you take them off yourself?

That looks awesome. Also nice context to place it in. What mountain is that in the background?

@Bradanglin22 I have a 2022 Tundra TSS SR5 CrewMax 4x4 and have a couple questions for your 2021 Softopper. I was told by Softopper themselves that the previous model wouldn't fit without gapping issues, is this true? Can you post more pictures up close on how well the topper is actually sealed? Thanks.

Comparing side by side to my brother’s 2.5 gen (which it came off of) we both agreed that fitment was just as good on the new body. The only thing we noticed was the rear fin which houses tailgate light/camera/etc. we found that if you seat the softopper all the way forward snug with the cab the forward-most bar of the softopper with sit right on that fin with tension. Our remedy was to shift the brackets back towards the tailgate (approx. 3/4”) and tighten the front softopper straps more than the rear so it’s just slightly elevated at the fin. I have absolutely zero issues running it this way. Especially considering I’ve been waiting for softopper to make one of these for 8 months now and repeatedly get told “we’re releasing it next month.”

In short, fitment is perfect with a little patience and some extremely slight adjustments.

Did they ever reply to you? I was looking at those as well and their website doesn't show a 2022 version yet.

our storage space here at home is really limited but something like that would be great for an overnight camping/really light overloading trip.

I've called and left messages emailed them and no reply. Their customer service is severly lacking. I cannot support a company with poor customer service, no matter how good the product may be. I ordered a Leer instead.

So, I somehow just got through to someone at Softopper. I pressed "1" to place a new order, and was 5th in the queue. I waited about 10 minutes and someone answered and told me the product for the 2022 tundra would be available in the next 2 weeks...

@Carolina Peej You sure about this? I will be calling soon to make sure that's true because the engineer said they wouldn't have it available for the next couple months:/ if this is true, then I thank you for letting us know about this. I'll be ordering one in 2 weeks haha!

The engineer is on vacation this week, but is supposed to be back next week. The sales person said they expected the option to go live late next week, or early the following week.

Of course... things can change, but before I go a different route, I want to give softopper 2 more weeks.

I have 2 A.R.E. Commercial toppers on order. This one’s from a 2013 f-150.. Not the best fit but works for now.

Bad news today... I spoke with Cara (maybe?) who was super nice and put me on hold to go down the hall to talk to the engineer. After a few minutes she came back and explained that basically, they haven't even started on a soft camper top for the 2022 Tundra. They confirmed the bed dimensions are different than the 2021 and confirmed that they need a new design.

She said they need to "borrow a truck" take measurements, fabricate a test top, test it, then fine tune it, then get it into production, and it would likely be December before they had a product ready to ship.

I confirmed with her that the first guy I talked to was named Ben, and she said she knew who that was, but then assured me that she just got this information from the engineer himself, and this is the latest and greatest.

Had been watching this thread and I also called Softopper and they told me August 10th that the 2022 option would be available so I kind of put all my eggs in that basket...now they are saying no plan (as noted above). I also called the Fastop folks as that option looked pretty good and they have a 6 week lead time. I have a big trip (2 month) and would just like to find something that will work. Leaning toward a 2021 Softopper as they have been shown to work or are there other fiberglass toppers that will work from older model trucks?

Ordered a super pacific a few weeks ago. ETA December. They said I will likely be one of, if not the first double cab 2022 Tundra to get one!

I spoke to the Leer dealer I work with yesterday, who confirmed 100XL and 100XR are the only ones currently available, but he made a call to the Leer factory in PA and called me back a bit later with an update that the 100XQ Sport is the next one coming in their lineup, and expect that'll be available in about a month. The 100R is following, and then the 100XQ will be last, expect 3-4 months yet.

I had a 100XQ Sport on a 2020 Raptor and had serious problems with the seals and spoiler itself. Always leaked and then the spoiler froze with water under the seals and started to separate from the rest of the cap. Leer wanted no part of making it right either for a $4900 cap.

I wasn't too familiar with the 100XQ Sport until i started doing some research after my call yesterday. I was seeing a lot of indication of the same, so really appreciate your insight too! I've been really happy with my 100XQ (non sport) and planning to wait that out at the moment, or considering an ARE CX Revo.

I had a ARE CX Revo, and really liked the durability of the urethane windows, but fitment on the rest of the cap was subpar. I think you have the best there is for fiberglass caps, the Leer 100XQ is definitely the route I will take next. Enjoy whichever route you go !
