Anyone put a new 5.5' softopper on their 2022? Just wondering what the fitment is like? I'm waiting for a 6.5' softopper so wondering if it's worth the wait or if I should just go with a 2021.

That's incorrect, the "digital rear view" camera is mounted beside the bed camera between the top cab breaking lights. The tailgate camera is only used for backup and depicted on the center console screen. This is a huge problem I have yet to hear ANY topper manufacturer address. Toppers for 3rd Gen Tundras MUST have a little window above the inner window to alleviate this problem or else all current truck-caps on the market would block your break lights, your top-down bed lights, your bed camera, and your digital rear view camera. It's a shame really, I use my bed camera a lot. I will likely say screw it and cut my own hole in the topper.

May I ask what do you REALLY need to see inside of your bed that you want to cut a hole in your new camper?

You can get a camper with a window so that you can see it from your regular mirror.

Community is currently waiting on a camera relocation kit so we can move the rear mirror camera to rear of the camper...

After 6 long months, I finally have my topper! Already hauled a washer/dryer, fridge, and stove in it. Tons of headroom, even with the bed slide!

can't wait till that kit comes out! I move a lot of sensitive electronics, robotics, and mechatronic prototypes, things I don't want shifting during sharp turns.

Just had my ARE Z series installed about a month ago. The entire front rail was leaking so I took it back. They pulled it off and added a second gasket to the front rail. They were pretty confident that it wouldn’t leak again. Wrong, no change. Anyone else having this problem? I live in WA so the seal is well-tested.

Agree with others on this thread about the paint match. Not great.

I got an ARE about a month ago as well. There is a .5 inch gap between the top of the front rail and the shell, enough to wiggle fingers through. Installer says they have a "thicker gasket from ARE" that they can add. Sounds like that won't fix it either. Considering going to buy some 1 inch backing rod and putting it in-between.

I miss the price on their website? If $1k is deposit of 25%, then total is $4k which seems reasonable to me.

I paid about $7k for the ARE DCU Max topper, that's after getting 25% discount by getting multiple quotes and negotiating with the local CA ARE dealer

Super Pacific at $13,495 or Alu-Cab starts north of $9,000. Guessing about the same price as Super Pacific. Anyone done a caparison?

Here is my leer. It’s slightly annoying to crawl around in of your are tall and I wish I got a taller one in retrospect. The looks are good though. I’d say loaded up with tools it’s sagging slightly to a point where it actually looks level now. Considering ways to stiffen the rear

The sagging makes sense. It looks like you have the 6.5' bed. It varies based on options but my incoming Leer 100XR, as I have it spec'd, is said to weigh ~280lbs for my 6.5' bed. If your cap is close to that 280 lbs, plus another (guessing) 300-400 lbs in tools/gear...not including the child hahaha... then it will definitely cause the OE coils in the rear to sag. You might look at some of the Dobinsons or OME coil options for the rear. Also, another option might be a set of air bags if your payload weight varies a lot based on the job (i.e. you don't always carry the same tools around for every job). Bags will give you a fair amount of adjustability for varying payloads.

Cap looks good though. Paint match looks solid and the aluminum doors look great too. I'm guessing this is Leer's 100RCC commercial cap? If so, did they give you weight rating specs for the roof? I'm curious how much more payload the commercial caps can carry up top vs a 100XR with the "reinforced" roof with the rails.

Side note: Leer CS and my local Leer dealer both told me the roof on a 100XR that is ordered from the factory with rack tracks is "reinforced" and thicker fiberglass vs the same cap that comes from the Leer factory without the factory-installed rack track option. I'm not sure if that's true or not. Curious if anyone has direct knowledge on that and can speak to it?

i made sure to order the integrated roof rails and one of the salesman said that the load capacity of the fiberglass roof was something crazy high and much more than an aluminum commercial canopy that I was deciding between

Wow you're doing great for your age!
I got the aluminum commercial cap coming next month - ARE DCU MAX and will report back. I don't think I was able to find specs with how much I could load on top... Unfortunately. My old DCU (not max) shell was plenty strong. I've loaded at least 200-300lb of metal emt conduit in top without any problems

I was really considering this Leer model but went with aluminum ARE DCU as it's a bit larger and more spacious. I especially liked larger door on the sides so it's easier for me to grab stuff. I do low voltage work and my box of cat6 cable won't fit through Leer door and fits just right through the DCU, so had to go with DCU even though it's probably less pretty...

I've been following this thread for a while as I try and find a good topper option for my '22 Lunar Rock Crew Max with a 6.5 ft bed and the decked system. I figured I'd share what I've learned from talking with dealers in my area.

Since I have the back window that rolls all the way down, I want to get a topper with a front window that is compatible. Both ARE, LEER and SNUGTOP have fold down/removable front windows but only SNUGTOP has a prop up front window. To me this is a 'worth it' feature because of the bed accessibility from the cab. A fold down window would hit my decked system and would not open all the way.

I've gotten quotes from 3 dealers near the Las Vegas area. The products I'm looking at are the ARE V series, Leer 100XR, and the Snugtop Rebel with the following options:
    -Sliding vented Windoors
    -Headliner
    -12 v dome light
    -Factory installed Roof tracks only
    -Keyless entry
-Front sliding fold down/removable front window or prop up sliding front window for the SNUGTOP.
-Reinforced roof (SNUGTOP only, 1 inch vs 1/2 inch that's standard)

ARE V series quoted at $4300 OTD (This model has the T handle rear window and latch system I don't like so for me it's out, I'm also fuzzy on if it has keyless entry or not)
Leer 100XR $4535 or $4480 OTD (Has keyless and more durable locking system)
Snugtop Rebel $4945 or $5068 (My favorite option because of front prop open window but I have yet to see any picture of this on a new tundra)

Again, I like the features of the snugtop the best. Its front window is better to me than even an RSI smartcap. The problem is its priced like a smartcap and there is almost no information on them. If anyone has one and could post pictures that would be great. Any relevant quality info would be cool too.

All the pictures of the Leer 100XR I've seen on here look great. I just feel like I'm getting screwed by my dealers on price. Each dealer also says the opposing company's fit and quality is worse than their own. Go figure.

    TLDR,
Snugtop prop up front window cool but no pictures and expensive
Leer 100XR looks pretty and not as pricey but less desirable front window.

Any input is welcome, if anyone wants more price info I can post that too. Dealers vary their accessory charge greatly.
