Not sure how it is in TX, but in FL the Department of Ag is who you'd want to call if in the event with water in gas. They get the gas station to do something, should they (the gas station) try to blow you off.

Typically yes. I wonder if the large tank reserve delayed the problem here. My experience with bad gas is if you fill up the tank, the engine will run briefly off the good fuel pumped into the supply line before you turned the car off. Then quickly sputter and die about the time you try to pull into the busy road in front of the station. Get to make many new friends welcoming you with horns and gestures

depends on the water content and how low the pump is drawing from, water will be 100% at the bottom

we see it with the USTs as well and monitoring systems.

It was an HEB gas station. I am waiting for their risk department to call me. It was less than I expected, $300 plus the new tank of fuel. I have an undiluted sample with me Incase they ask for a sample of it.

the tank monitoring system will have exactly how much water was or is in the tank, doubt they will tell you that though, lol.

glad it worked out and for a shit happens moment, that really isnt too bad

Agreed, but I've gotten as far as 5 miles. Regrettably East of Amarillo at 2AM. Usually it happens right away. As breathing Borla said, you'll have a lot of bad gas friends near by.

Sidetrack comment but boat fuel is a massive issue and tank monitoring has never been spoken. You have a series of Racor filters so you can flip to another when you get bad fuel. You clear the water bowls and start over. You keep a case of filters and I've had to use as many as six with shitty fuel having to reprime each time. $6/gallon too. Ahh boating.

We have the same here in Texas. If the station tries to balk I will be giving them a call. I have videos showing it happened 30 miles and about 30 minutes after leaving their station.

I am surprised I was able to restart the truck both times and drive it into the dealer.

I don’t foresee HEB divulging the information, but my service rep said there has to be a pile of cars around town with the same issue.
