It’s not good. Saw 2 3rd gens broken down within 25 miles of each other today. Wild to see Toyotas having these problems.

Someone started a thread on 2023 blown engines. Wasn’t a turbo issue. Saw a couple weeks ago. Think it was FB, disturbing pictures.

Turbo on the passenger side is all done, one day job. They initially thought they would have to lift the body off & then said just the front grill area. Turns out they were able to snake it out the passenger side wheel well! The truck runs fine, but I did see a new scratch on the front end that was not there before service. We will see how they handle this issue…

Unless proven otherwise he's a troll. Just joined in February, truck reviews now that's a joke.

Probably bought another make and has Tundra envy.

You saw two tundras broke down in a single day? Give me a break, dude. Despite the few 2022 issues, Tundras are still the most reliable full size truck you can buy, and without $10k or more in added markup like the junk built in Detroit.

How is the 2022+ tundra the most reliable truck?
In fact I’d bet the data will show the exact opposite. Give it another year for all results.

Third gen tundras did have issues, mostly from 2022 models, but the MAIN issues people have complained about (squeaky interior parts, body trim and wind noise) pale in comparison to what consumers are dealing with who bought GM and Ford trucks. Out of the countless new tundras, how many do you really think had a wastegate issue? A tiny fraction of a percent at best. There are class-action lawsuits against GM for piss-poor engines and transmissions, and the F-150 hybrid is the #1 least reliable vehicle according to consumer reports. Ram/Chrystler is historically junk, but Ram quality is actually the best its ever been since they are still putting outdated engines and technology in the same trucks that haven't been changed since 2018. Ram's next gen trucks will also be ditching the V8 for ttv6 engines, and I guarantee you their quality will be back to typical Chrystler crap.

They still have a lot issues. That bad of wind noise is bad build or poor design. Or both. Unfortunately it may take a few years for Toyota to get this right. Engine failures, electrical gremlins, poor interior quality. Sure the frame and suspension is a great upgrade from past gens. Just not willing to purchase a new one at this point. Sadly Right now any other new full size pickup is better than this new Tundra.

I looked at all four major truck brands, and bought a 23' platinum. I have had zero issues or complaints so far. The truck is amazing, and IMO the Platinum, 1794 and Capstone have the nicest interiors of any truck. Very happy with my purchase, and I am glad I didn't have to finance at today's rates.

We drove past a Ford dealership the other day and the must have been at least 100 new trucks in the yard. And Toyota has 1 Tundra with a sold sign on it. I am not sure how that compares with other areas. Does that mean that Ford is out producing by 100 times? Perhaps.

Here in SE TX there is one Tundra available at my local Toyota dealership and GM, Chevy, and Ford have about 50 to 100 trucks each.

My local dealer just got a capstone. First tundra to touch the lot without being sold. Last time I was there for service they had 12 tundras and 5 sequoias out back waiting on pickup. Pretty crazy considering almost 7% interest is the best you can get.
Theres another dealer nearby that has 5-6 sitting as well as 2 sequoias but they still want 5-10k markup and add on another few thousand in dealer fees.

23 Limited CrewMax 4x4, 8500 miles. 1 issue (bent plug on passenger mirror, replaced under warranty). No rattles, has been flawless. Bronco I ordered is arriving and having second thoughts about trading. This truck has been a great.

2022 SR5 4x4 with 13k Miles, I pressed on the gas to pass a car and got the Check Engine, Reduce Power message. Drove another mile to a safe place, turned it off and back on within a few minutes and the issue seems to be gone.
Do I still need to bring it to the dealer or wait and see if it happens again?

I connected to Carista and got the Engine Faults above after the Engine Check Reduced Power Message.
Interesting that the Toyota APP, in the Health and Alerts Section, Vehicle Alerts shows "Engine good" . I would expect the Toyota App to read the ECU and report the faults in the app.

Just got the Reduced Engine Power message. Went away after turning the car off and back on. Took it to the dealer and had ECM history code P02351C. Code has not returned so they suggested to wait and see if it returns. They called Toyota and it looks like they wanted to attribute it to the Carista OBD as causing a glitch (which even the tech laughed at).

Time will tell whether it was a one off or turbo failure.

Hell naw. . .yeah, they have had a few issues. . . Maybe more than expected even for a new model from Toyota. I've had a few small issues with mine. . But I wouldn't let it go for any 2 of the big three. . Issues left and right on those

    Working through the list
My July 2017 Crewmax Tundra TRD is looking better every day. This Fall I wanted to do what I have done for the past 2+ decades, which is sell or trade in my existing Toyota pickup and buy a new one after four or five years. But I held off because of the turbo problems. I frequently haul a heavy trailer that I can't just pull off on the side of the road with if the power goes out. I need and expect the power to be there on demand. That is why I always buy Toyota pickup trucks. I keep waiting for Toyota to admit the mistake and bring back their tried and true 5.7 V8. I really like this engine.

Mind you its not exactly the same as the Lexus 3.5 but they did base it from that. Its similar but different which is why there were so many problems at the beginning. 65k miles and no issues fingers crossed

Have a 2022 Tundra Limited. One of the early builds. At 24,000kms the driver side turbo went and now at 28,000kms the passenger side went. Took the dealer a month to get the driver side turbo in stock. Probably be the same for the passenger. I still drive the truck while waiting for the parts, just clear the cel every now and then when it pops up. The annoying thing is I asked the dealer to replace both since they had they truck apart but they wouldn't even acknowledge that this is a common issue. I hate dealerships. If they would just say yea, we know about the issue, I wouldn't be so pissed about it, but they just skirt the issue and act like it's the first time they've seen it. At 7000 dollars a turbo they should be replacing both under warranty for everyone regardless just to be safe.

4.) 2024 toyota tundra 1794 edition non hybrid, 4x4, TRD off road package,1480 miles, less than one month of ownership, Was driving to work, felt a lag in acceleration after passing a slower vehicle, looked up at my dash with the message of engine power reduced, visit dealer. Got to the dealer, service advisor went to check in truck for service, after turning truck off and back on the message went away, asked them to please scan the vehicle, they said they would do what's called a health check, informed me of a code having to deal with turbo pressure code of p02351c, over 24 hours of the vehicle being in the shop, was updated the foreman and tech were in contact with Toyota engineering and am waiting for confirmation for turbo replacement. Was hoping the issue would be gone by 2024, however here we are.

For those of you who have had your turbos replaced, how has the truck been after replacement? Haven't seen to many follow ups after repair. Appreciate this forum! New member!

Update 12/14/23: My dealership luckily had two field techs visiting for some other vehicles, after being in contact with Toyota engineering and verifying that the turbos did not fall into the category of failure, they deemed the pending DTC of p02351c a hiccup and recalibrated engine systems. Field techs stated this is the first 24 they've seen and stated that the turbo design was updated halfway through the production line of the 23s, they are unsure why the code tripped and logged it with Toyota engineering as something to monitor. Will update further if any issues arise. Truck appears to be running fine.

I didn't expect this to still be happening. I have a 2022 SR5 OF @ 27k miles. Luckily quiet smooth and quick. Didn't expect to feel so unsure after buying Toyota Tundra.
