I am in the process of adjusting the rear height of my truck to stop the bottoming out. I understand the adjustment part of undoing the ten mm nut and moving the lever down to get more height. My question is once I have done it do I need to start the truck to measure the height on each side. My guess is that if I do the measurements without starting the truck the air bellows won’t be full of air and therefore the car won’t be at the correct height. Am I right or wrong. Thanks I’m advanced for your replies

Per the OM, the engine must be running.

I had to lower to lowest setting then raise it to highest setting and it set itself in the middle.

Took mine to the dealer today and they adjusted rear air suspension and leveled the headlights per TSB 0070-22. Ride difference was huge.

Thanks for the input. If you don’t mind would be kind enough to measure the height of the rear on each side. From ground to lower edge of fender. Thanks in advanced

I adjusted mine (in the neutral position)to about 37 and 4/16 and my truck now rides very smooth and doesn’t hit the bump stops. I don’t know if I may have to adjust my headlights leveled with this rear height setting? Any thoughts?

Ride height from ground to fender after the adjustment is right at 38 inches. As an FYI I have a platinum, wheel size 265/60/20, but I’m sure the tsb applies to the 1794. I do not have a copy. I gave the number to the dealer and they pulled it up. They said mine was out of spec. The rear always looked real low to the ground and now it looks ‘normal’

My invoice, covered under warranty, stated ‘adjusted height control Sensor and headlights for new height’.

Thank you for your quick reply. My Tundra is a 1794 4WD. I will have to wait and see if my headlights need adjustment.

See attached for TSB-0070-22. Screenshots of the TSB were posted by someone else in a Fb I lurk in. I took their screenshots and made it into a PDF for myself.

I took my 22 Platinum w/ AVS in recently for this TSB to my local dealer. It smoothed my ride out tremendously. Prior to the adjustment, little bumps were very noticeable and jarring. After the adjustment, that all went away. Apparently my adjustment was minor enough such that it didn't require any headlight adjustment.

I took my Platinum into the dealership September 1st for this adjustment.
I have been waiting for this to be addressed since I purchased the Truck on February5th. Between the dealer and Corporate it has been never ending.
This rides like a different truck, I could not be happier.

Same here. Now they need to fix the noise that I have on the right rear when going over bumps. It seems to be coming from the composite bed near the wheel well. I have checked the tailgate and that’s not the culprit

Didn't know this was a TSB until now. I have been consistently surprised how harsh the rear suspension was at times, especially for an air suspension. I noticed the bump stops looked surprisingly low the other day. Went dove hunting and put it in high mode out driving on the farm. It rode incredibly better, and I just figured normal was set up for street performance and that's why they had high mode. Tried to set it to high to go over the speed humps in my neighborhood, but kept resetting to Normal in between humps.

Man am I glad I stumbled across this post. I cannot wait to get her in there and ask for this TSB. Thanks guys! Great posts. Thanks sx64 for pasting the TSB!!

Just took my 1794 in. We owned a 2018 Landcruiser and this truck rode and sounded horrible. I was very disappointed. I followed this thread argued and pushed dealer to follow the TSB and set at max spec. The distance btw the bump stop and axle was about 0.5”. The spec is about 1.3-1.7”. This change raised the ground to top of wheel well from 36.5 to 38.25”. Besides better ride it just looks like a truck instead of a loaded down truck. Also had them drop the ESE (fake engine noise). It was huge. Finally feels and sounds more like our Landcruiser (no noise). Pic is at normal height setting.

I just don’t understand why Toyota is shipping the Tundras out with the air suspension maladjusted. When I first got my truck it rode horribly. After the adjustment it made a night get and difference . Now the truck is quiet and I couldn’t be happier. No more hitting the bump stops and no noise coming from the bed when going over bumps.

I’m confused too and also that I had to source it from ToyotaUSA and basically force it on my dealer. After I got the TSB they could not argue it was in spec. They need to recall to keep customers happy.

Anyone know if this problem was corrected by Toyota in the 2023 model year?

It was not. Picked up my 2023 1794 Saturday and it will knock your teeth out. Also left passengers window goes down about 3/4 of the way and stops. Push the button again and after a popping noise goes All the way down

Thank you Tmymac, sorry to hear about your window issue. Also, thanks to sx64 for uploading the technical service bulletin. Off to my dealer with TSB in hand.

For those out there like me who have taken delivery recently. Build of 10/18, took ownership of my 2023 truck on 11/12 and would have expected that Toyota would have fixed this mistake during manufacturing given TSB but confirmed (see pic) that they have not.

    Hi All
Just bought a 2023 platinum and before I measure the distance from the bump stop bottom to the top of the realm axle housing, I want to make sure that I’m measuring when the trucks air suspension is at the “normal “ setting. Is that correct?
Or am I supposed to measure at it’s lowest, or highest?

Thank you. Mine is at 11.7 mm when I measured. That can’t be good. Build date is November 2022. So they definitely have not remedied this issue yet.

Took my 5 day old built in October truck in for window sticking and harsh ride. They said my truck was a 23 and TSB did not apply. They are idiots

What!? I would push back, that's BS. The truck design and specs have not changed from 2022 to 2023 so the TSB date is irrelevant. I have my service scheduled for 12/13 and will post how my conversation goes.

Mine is going in tomorrow. I’ll let you all know how it goes. I’m actually at 21mm in the “normal” position as of now. I’ll measure it after they perform the TSB and report the difference.

Thank you, this is great info, at least we can walk in and present something to the service department. Has Toyota resolved this on the current production run?

Sorry for the noob question but do all 1794's have the air suspension? I am looking at my spec sheet and it does not indicate that it does. Supposed to be arriving around Christmas.
