$53,600 out-the-door with $4000 of that being tax, title, and license. I may have been able to do better but I'm happy enough.

 

I imagine I could have gotten a better deal in the lower 48 but I didn't have the advantage of playing dealers off each other since I live in Alaska (only 1 Toyota dealer). None the less, I am happy with the price I paid.

The manager wouldn't budge for weeks but in the end, I finally got what I was asking for. I worked with them via email only because I live in rural Alaska and wasn't going to drive to the dealer until I had an agreement I was happy with in writing. Here are the details:

Is $42,540 plus TTL and tint a good deal or should i keep on trying?

That does seem like a really good price. Only thing that caught my eye is that it doesn't appear to have the 38 gallon tank or the TRD Off-Road package. Are those things you'd want?

P.S. Cement is the best color!

 

All the models that come equipped with console shifters have the 38 gallon tank. Thanks for the feedback as well!

 

That may be a little high without the premium package and sunroof. I’m getting close to that number with those two added.

 

According to you our quote you are about 20% off MSRP. If you can get 10% you are doing really good. If you are serious about buying I would be signing papers tonight......

This was before covid-19 so there should definitely be bigger discounts especially with inventory not moving.

 

I see as a part of that deal, they offered "Fabric Guard." That crap is a joke...it protects nothing. I have stains from a minuscule piece of chocolate on my drivers side seat. Instantly! Nothin I have tried has removed it and I had "Fabric guard." Complete BS. Good price on the truck, though.

 

That's a pretty dang good deal; I got about $8K off of mine (after all the paperwork was done), right around 9.5% or so. 20% off? I'd be hauling @$$ to the dealership to buy that truck. LOL

 

where do you find dealer cost?

 

https://www.edmunds.com/new-cars/ When you want a car, you tell it what you what, in this case a Toyota Tundra. Then go through model you want and the options on that model.
The nice thing is it explains the option package. So if you see (as an example) the "TRD SPORT PACKAGE" it will tell you what is included in the package, the dealer cost of the package and the list price.
In the example below, the dealer cost is $2847 and the MSRP is $3200



At the very end, they actually give you the 3 prices. Dealer cost, True market value (which is which most people pay) and MSRP.

I have not seen anyone else mention it here but me. I find it useful. I assume others do not.

 

The final page looks like this:


So I say something like: "Your cost on this truck is $44709. I know there is hold-back and you will make money at $44709. But I am willing to give you $44810."

That's when they counter and negotiations begin. My negotiation style says you negotiate up from $44709, NOT down from the list price.

 

Agree 1000%. Edmunds is a must when shopping.

I was quoted 44,750 before TTL for the same truck with sunroof, premium package, bed liner. It’s inline with yours after looking at what those options cost. I would pull the trigger if it’s what you want and can afford it. Good luck!

That is a DAMN good deal....but also not something that everyone is able to do. Either you caught someone at just the right time or a salesman had a quota to meet or something.

 

Ohhh, OK, my bad. He said 'I overpaid, 42K..." and then later I saw the $49900 number.

SO, I thought he was saying he paid $42K on a $49900 MSRP...so when you said you paid $3K less on a truck with an MSRP of $13K more...I mean holy crap, you can see why I commented what I did above. I essentially thought you said you paid $39K on a truck with an MSRP of $62K. LOL!

I was looking around just as the Covid19 was taking off.
Toyota of Orange (SoCal) also has an Army Green CM PRO with $10k mark up. I loved my old Forest green 2007 DC and the “army green really strikes a chord with me...
But 10k is laughable... I have a pic of the sticker somewhere.

FWIW they looooowwballled the frap outta my 2017 Platinum Pro. $31k for those wondering.
They will swap wheels but nothing else.

Had the Trade in been closer to KBB “very good and the dealer willing to swap some parts I would have been sitting in a 2020 Platinum right now.

 

A little backstory,
I emailed 8 dealers within 500 miles of my house(upper Midwest)
on almost identical trucks. I got them in a bidding war. The dealership I purchased from was the last one to come down and was the closest. So there was some back and forth for a week. I don’t have the invoice in front of me but the sale price was $43,500.00 minus the $3,000 rebate. I could of got it for another $250 off but that drive would was 2.5 hrs more than the hour I drove.

The deals right now are really good. Got a 2020 4X4 CM 1794 with TRD Off road package, moonroof, remote tailgate lock and full frontal 3M Clear Bra for $48,000. MSRP was $54,694 + $1,700 for the clear bra. Not too bad.

The bidding war that goes on with dealers is something I've never seen. They give you top value on trade in, sight unseen, as in over the phone and the truck deals are priced very low. On top of that the interest rates are very aggressive as well. I just figured this would be a great time to buy since the dealers are really hurting badly.

 

The dealership took my trade-in for the full amount I owed and leased me this for 3 years with zero down and at $585 a month. That's with Gap. I think the pandemic helped with the deal.
