Does anyone else have the same issue? I ordered a 2021 Tundra CM in early July and it still hasn’t shown up. Initially it was the chip shortage, then supply chain issues, and now they are saying that it’s suck in a port somewhere (Pacific Coast since I am ordering in in Washington State). I am a pretty patient person but man this is taking a really long time (Like Russ’ finger injury, it can’t get done with soon enough).

Anyway, any advice or other info greatly appreciated.

i thought they were built in san antonio. They ship them from san antonio, tx. It's probably true its stuck in transit somewhere. This is backed up and i'm sure california is a hub for the west coast.

what can you do except wait or cancell and buy somewhere else. Buyers just don't have leverage right now with stealerships.

I ordered mine 2 months ago and got it 2 weeks ago. But I started my ordering process by contacting toyota directly and complaining about dealer markups. Apparently it worked because they contacted my local dealership and basically I paid msrp plus accessories.

Your dealer has an inventory manager that can track it by VIN. Salesman and sales managers don't have that info.

I didn't really order mine specifically, but in the first week of August my dealership had nothing available (Tacoma, Tundra, etc....) so I told them what I was looking for and they put me on the "waiting list". I was contacted a few days later with pretty much what I was looking for except for the color - wanted MGM but only midnight black was available so I took it (never wanted black, but now I love it). I was told this was just one of the few allotted Tundras that my dealership was receiving before end of the year. Didn't have to put a down payment or anything because they would have no problem selling it. I was told end of October or early November that the truck will be here. Got the call October 15th that my truck will be ready for pickup on the following Monday the 18th!!
So roughly 2 months I waited. Truck sticker says it was built 9/21/21.

Thats similar to what I was told, toyota isn't allowing any new allotments so what your dealership has coming is it for the 2021 tundra. I ended up with a MGM as my second color option.20211031_163934.jpg

It's pretty dang near empty on the lots. On a whim I went to see what they had and trade in my coupe and they had 1 truck on the lot but dumb luck I fell for it immediately and took it home same day. Their whole showroom floor in Round Rock/North of Austin was empty AF

This is what my local Toyota dealer’s new vehicle lot looked like yesterday -

they have about 10 new vehicles on the entire lot. I live in a metro area of approx 1M people.

There is more info on this in another post, but i can't find it right now.

For what it's worth, I ordered my Nightshade WCP mid-July. It had a build date of July 7th and was expected in around mid-August. I just got it last week.

Use this link: Vehicle Specification | Toyota Owners

Ask your dealer for the VIN. If it has a letter in the last 6 digits it is still a temp VIN and awaiting something. Once that VIN disappears, it is finally built and being assigned a new legit VIN. At that point it should be close to being shipped.

I pretty much checked every day...and when my temp VIN disappeared I checked w the dealer and booooo-yeah!

Still took about 3 weeks from that point to be shipped and delivered, but as least I knew it was complete.

Hope it's helpful & good luck.

In all likelihood, your truck is caught up in the power steering recall mess. (August through October build dates) 22,000 Tundras are affected. If the truck is still at the port, or rail yard in my case, it is still under the control of Toyota America. Because of the unresolved safety issue they may not transfer ownership of the vehicle to the dealer per NHTSA regulations until the steering units have been inspected and if necessary replaced. One in four of the vehicles have defective steering due to a vendor error. If the vehicle is on the dealer lot they may not sell it to you, also per NHTSA regulations as referenced above. Toyota is training service technicians in Austin to travel throughput the dealer network to inspect and start making repairs as needed. I was told that I shouldn’t look for my truck until sometime in January. They even tried to coax me to buy a 2022 instead which they said would be available mid Jan. 2022’s don’t have V-8s. I wish you patience and luck.

This is a “For what it’s worth” update. It’s January 27th and the dealership still has my down payment, I still don’t have my Tundra. And I haven’t heard a word from them in over a month. Thankful I still have my 2000 4RUNNER!

It’s now February 12th and no word from the dealer.
