I am still waiting to hear when I can put some money down and secure a 2020 Platinum. How long ago were you able to get your quote?

Glad to see you were able to add the moonroof and still get the spray in bed-liner.

Agree, always wondered what you do if the battery dies in the FOB in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere.

I contacted two Toyota dealerships near me earlier this summer to get on their first allocation for the 2020 model year Tundra. One of the dealerships contacted me last week, and configured the vehicle I wanted. I notified the other Toyota dealership about this, and they didn’t put up much of an effort. Obviously I went with the first dealership that contacted me. The build date is scheduled for the week of August 5, 2019. Pricing was not available as of last week, but they are not expecting much of an increase over last year.

The halogen head/fog lights got my attention! Not sure if it’s a typo but I didn’t think that was even an option for the platinum.

I noticed that too. I’m hoping it is a generic line item.

There's still a physical key hidden in the FOB, then you pop a little panel off the steering column and stick the key in, then start it up.

Best of both worlds. Keyless and a James Bond style backup key in the fob.

    2020 Tundra 007 edition.

this smacks of next gen coming out next year. typical cycle toyota does on updating to the brim then next gen they trim features out to add them back in over the gen cycle. they did this to the tacoma before the 3rd gen and the 4th gen 4runner.

I have not seen anything that states or even suggests that the 5.7L is going away. I did see several articles that states that the 5.7 FFV is going away, not the standard 5.7. It is essentially the same engine, just without the flex fuel ability, which apparently nobody seems to care about. I don't see Toyota getting rid of the 5.7, unless they have a good replacement V8 lined up. There will for sure be smaller options.

I would trade mine in right now for a dark gray one.

Dont care about the FOB or anything else other than the color

Only color I liked was black out of the three.

My sources at Toyota have said the same thing. There will be two new motor options but the 5.7 should still be available. The 4.6 L is going away.

Too bad the 4.6 is going away. I had the 4.7 in my 2001 Tundra and that's an incredibly long lasting motor. Was perfect in the 1st Gen Tundra

The last year of the 5.7L V8 in any truck is 2020. Mark my words, 2021 will be a whole new era for Toyota Trucks ;-)

I have no info on this but in my eyes it would seem odd to totally redesign a ancient platform and carry over kind of a dinosaur of an engine....but who knows.

The Toyota training I attended recently highlighted that in order to meet the CAFE standards for 2025, they will start with removing the heavy gas mileage abusers from their motor line up. Expect to see a Hybrid Sequoia in 2021, and even a Hybrid Sienna. I will be very impressed if the 5.7L makes it even as an option past 2020. They (Toyota) were making it pretty clear that motors time is up.

The spy shots of the 2021 Tundra and experiences stated that the vehicle was silent until about 25mph...

Toyota wants their whole portfolio to be 54.5 MPG by 2025.

I guess time will tell what they decide. Sounds like some cool new things coming for the next generation of Toyota’s! Feel free to post up some pics of the 2021 tundra. :D

I don't have any better source of information, so I can't argue anything. Just thinking and guessing like everyone else.
    However,
    1. The question about the 5.7 disappearing was asked in relation to the 2020 model. The answer to that is that the 5.7 will still be offered in 2020. The 5.7 FFV will not.
    2. Regarding the future engines; just because Toyota will offer a hybrid does not automatically mean that they will all be hybrids, or hybrid will be the only option. They may offer both a hybrid and a V8 of some sorts at the same time. Just like Ford offering the 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboosts but still have the V8 and also a diesel option.

If that is true, and I do believe you-- the current generation Tundras will be an iconic truck, and I see value only going up. The entire overlanding/van community uses Tundras in the NorCal/Northern Nevada area/PNW area. They don't want a hybrid. They certainly don't want a Chevy lol.

Is it just me, or does that green look terrible? It's so Alabama green, and not enough PNW green.

That was my thoughts exactly, and I have 0 incentive to make this shit up lol. The last iteration of Toyota iconic 5.7L is exactly why I'm getting a 2020 to upsize my 2018 Tacoma. I never thought I would be towing what I am now and am very excited to not lose things like keyless access moving to the larger Toyota truck.

I will be more than happy to track anyone's order on a truck they've ordered if you DM me a VIN #...I've seen production dates on 2020 Tundras as early as second week of August!

I talked to the loyalty manager at my local dealer and he said he will have me a list of options to choose from by end of month. And able to place my order August 5. Should have my new Platinum by early September.

Please share with us. I told my sales manager I'll be ordering a Voodoo Blue Platinum and asked if he has more info on it.. All he said was "perfct".. Misspelled like that.. I think this dude is mouth watering at the thought of a sale.

Ha yeah I bet they all are itching for a sale. He knows what I want and didn't dare try to sell me a 2019. I have bought several vehicles from my guy and he is pretty knowledgeable. I asked about the other colors available for the Platinum and he said he knows White, Black, Silver, Metallic Grey, and VooDoo Blue. He said they were thinking Toyota would add another color but didn't want to guess as to which one. Said he would let me know as soon as he does.
He confirmed everything everyone else has been saying about options which I guess is a good thing,.

Thanks for all your input. It's very appreciated! Do you know what the prices are on these new trucks? Going up?

I own a 2017 911 and there are a bunch of people the Porsche forums all discussing why they went from 3.8 NA to 3.0 turbo and whatnot.. CAFE standards are the real thing here and it's unfortunate how big business, insurance companies, and government control everything.

Get your 5.7's while you can folks! Tours over.
