The “it’s a truck” is such a cop out for Toyota taking forever to add new tech. Not much to ask for a vehicle to have features available in most vehicles sold today. I need a truck and don’t want a second vehicle just to have basic tech that’s available in every other truck on the market. No one is asking for anything crazy here. Keep making excuses for Toyota while everyone else offers what the consumer wants. Reliability only takes you so far.

Just boils down to personal preference. Just like all the TSS garbage.. I've got a 17 limited. Minimal tech... the way I like it. More tech=more stuff to go wrong. And really limits us to what we can do and upgrade.. again personal preference. I'm glad Toyota keeps it simple. Too many companies trying to "keep up" with the trends, ends up in unreliable vehicles or options that leave more to be desired.

If all you are wanting is the tech, why not just update the head unit to after market? Be a whole hell of a lot cheaper than trading in. Nothing is really different except maybe a push button start. Not worth the bath you would take is it?

For me, this will be my first Tundra purchase, so waiting another 2 months for the features I want, is not so difficult to understand? Sure, I could most likely save a little obtaining a new 2019 with the leftovers on the lots - most likely, not with the features or color I want.

Trading in a 2018 or 2019 for a 2020, yeah that might not be the best idea. However, for new buyers it would seem crazy not to wait.

Just from a money standpoint, if you're not paying cash, taking advantage of the 0% right now is worth it. Literally free money. You'll be lucky to get 3.9% on a 2020.

I was going to put down 50% and finance the remaining - if the 0% offer is still available. I asked around on the forum, if the current promotional offers would still be valid (they are set to expire at end of July according to website) after the 2020 are released and a few chimed in saying, that when they bought previous years in or around October, those same offers were available. With declining auto sales in the US and Europe, I would tend to believe that the 0% financing will be available out of the gate.

With that said, yes 3.9% is insane and I would not pay that. 1.9% on a 6 year is not bad, but 0 percent on 5 year is much more appealing.

For sure. I'm at 0% and if you can qualify it's worth it. I wouldn't even put 50% down. You should put as little as possible down... it's free money over 60 months. You can pu that money to good use somewhere else. Paying off other debt, investing etc.

True enough, in regard to not putting anything down at zero percent. The only question that remains, will Toyota still offer the zero percent promotional when the 2020 is released.

I'm with lord kinbote. There's no point in buying a 19 right now with these new updates coming around the corner. Don't understand the excuses that are being brought up for toyota.. Android auto and whatnot has been out for years now. It's basic tech were talking here.. Who doesn't want a bigger screen with higher definition? Plus all the extras coming through thats integrated STOCK. Can't beat stock dependability. Apple Car play/android auto make life so much easier that its a game changer. Everything is hands free which leads to a safer less distracting drive.. All you need is a solid phone mount.

Like mentioned above.. If you've got a 18/19 then yeah, no point in trading because you'll be taking a huge loss anyway. The Tundra is already outdated as it is. The 2020 helps just that much more..

Lastly. I am an absolute shark when it comes to negotiating. I could easily get 10%+ off MSRP on any new tundra.. The TRD PRO seems to be the challenging one so if that tickles my fancy I'll be shooting for 5% which I'm sure I'll get.

Imagine driving under any circumstance and being able to ask your phone any question being directions, hours, random facts, mathematical equations, and more without lifting a finger... "Hey Google. Whats 243*89? Answer gets spat out through your speakers within seconds.. It's not gonna break.. If it does so what? It's a Toyota and parts are cheap and plentiful. You have a bigger chance of losing/bending or breaking your key than the push button start failing.

So what if the CIA/DHS are tracking me through google? FU CIA, FU Google. Enjoy reading/sifting through my searches and history. Enjoy the porn too.

LOL, my thoughts exactly. The convenience feature of being able to speak and get the results I want (random facts, weather, navigation, etc) is worth it to me. That's why the android auto in my opinion, is the most significant part of the upcoming updates. I prefer push button start to having to insert a key as well - I always end up scratching the ignition portion while fumbling with inserting the key.

Yikes!! Thanks for that post.. Decisions decisions... Voodoo blue replaced by Army Green for the TRD BRO. Voodoo blue available on Platinum.

I'm torn between the TRD BRO and Platinum. Wonder if the TRD BRO gets ventilated seats or platinum leather? The SR5 seems to be of great value now.

    What's SX package?

Also, whatever Tundra may come in 2021/2022 does not have the most bulletproof engine of all time. Not many engines can survive in the Yukon and UAE. I've seen them both.

Yeah at this point I expect the 2020 to just have minor changes. Hopefully 2021 brings something meaningful.

My wife’s minivan had a push button start and I still don’t understand what’s so great about it. All my life I’ve been using a key to start my vehicles and it’s never been a problem.

Going to wait and take a look at the 2020 before I purchase a Platinum, then decide based on any significant feature differences between the 19 and 20 and price, 19 may have the better incentives to sell.

You want to keep your current one forever but you'd never consider getting a toyota truck again? Then why keep it?

For me its extreme convenience. I can walk up to the door and have it unlock without having to drop everything and get a key fob out of my pocket. Makes it quicker to reach in and hit the button to start so I can start cooling my truck down.

It lets you know if your key is in your car so you dont lock your keys in which I have done in my life. Just things like that. You could say Why are automatic windows so great I've never had a problem turning that gear, but add all of these things together and its just a nicer experience.

Wait for the 2020's to populate the dealerships, then get a 2019 for mark down deal. Unless you are dead set on the bigger screen, keyless entry, and/or push-button start.

I was talking with the service manager at my local dealership and he told me the 2020's will be the first to roll out a revamped, more fuel efficient engine along with a 10 speed trans. I have also been looking til the end of Google trying to find something since he told me about it.

Our Highlander has this feature. You can disable it by pressing a button on the dash, but you have to press it every time you start the car. However, it doesn't enable unless you push down hard on the brake pedal when stopped, and after a while you get used to what it takes to engage it and can just keep it from engaging with controlling the pedal pressure when stopped.

You misunderstood what I was saying. I am not going to keep this truck forever. Back when I bought the Tundra, I was really considering getting a heavy duty truck. But, I didn't feel too confident in the reliability of any of the big 3. Combine that with the excellent experience that I had with a 2005 4Runner, and I decided to go ahead and sacrifice capability and get a Tundra, because I didn't want to deal with reliability issues. But, my Tundra hasn't been that great from a reliability standpoint. In retrospect, I should have just purchased a heavy duty truck from one of the big 3. I frequently find myself wishing that I had more payload capacity.

That all said, the Tundra is paid for, and we just paid off our house - I am enjoying not having any payments whatsoever and plan to keep it that way for a while. So, I will just run this truck for at least the next 5 years (when my son turns 18) - unless it continues to have issues and ticks me off too much, then I might just say eff it and get rid of it. But, I won't ever even consider another Toyota full-size truck unless they decide to enter the heavy duty market.
