OMG, quality anything anymore is a joke! Even our damn trucks are going downhill with things like omiited trans coolers. Toyota puts in a rear end designed to tow a load and then leaves out the cooler. That is like selling a house without the kitchen sink! As for trailers, yep junk too. I have two that I built myself. Started with big heavy cold galvanized boat trailers that were cheap because the boats are kept in the water. They were basically flat after removing all the rollers, runners, and rails that supported the boat. Then I modified to my specs in length also cold galvanizing my additional steel. Then second hand dexter brake axles from tornado damaged travel trailers using new springs with 500lb more spring rate for added peace of mind. Then I replace tongue with a much shorter and heavier guage material, and weld & bolt on a forged bull dog 2 5/16 hd coupler. That all provides me a rust proof solid foundation to build on. For tires I use E rated 18" Michelin lt ats rated at over 3500lbs each. Lights led's in pop in rubber grommets easily replaceable at any truckstop. I know, sounds like a headache, but I have good solid trailers that never let me down. Again, it takes effort!!

that seems to be a good way to make a cost effective medium duty trailer.

I have really come to like my Load Trail/Load Max trailers. Very well made.

Build an enclosed out of this Belshe and you would have what I call a trailer.

I just got a quote for a Red Rhyno/Belshe dealership. Funny you should suggest that.

Actually, No. Maybe they are a newer business that began or grew after my oilfield days. Now, PJ's builds good trailers too though. My own wallet just always favors diy. Then my wife reinforces that with "you can build anything, you have more tools than lowes, so why do want to buy that?" I remain happy and thankful that she doesn't notice when I supercharge the electric meter with the tool and equipment usage.
