How is the sound in the cab after installation of the plastic one? Or shoot, after either one. I'd imagine you're losing a lot of sound dampening.

I can't hear the difference, I just put the carpet that I cut off underneath, I do wish there's a plastic version of their one piece design, I don't need to lock it but it would be nice to leave an umbrella in it.

Or even a plastic version with a lid that locks! Actually, doesn't even need a lock. Just a lid...

I keep a short/stubby umbrella in the side pocket of my door. Fits like a glove. It's great for those moments that I need to float down a flight of stairs like Mary Poppins.

Does anyone know if the template for the plastic version is the same as the metal one if I chose to upgrade down the line?

    The long box is great.

Getting it to fit perfectly and still have the seats lock down was quite a challenge for me on a brand new '21. Not sure if easier on older vehicles.

I made my own version of a long box and move the seats forward to fit three JL TW3 12”s. The box holds two amps. A Class AB on mids/highs and class D on the bass.

+1 For ESP and @havasubud! Went to the shop and he installed the 3 compartment bin in my Crewmax. Install was quick and the quality is excellent! Highly recommended.

I have weathertechs also and just cut into them enough for the storage bin to fit.

Same principle, put your template down and carefully cut the floor. Put your liner over the new opening and trim it around the diameter, you can cut .25-.50" more of the liner to help the box seat properly. Just remember, you can always trim more off, you can't put it back. Go slow and you will be fine.

I just ordered the lockable long box and a remote start kit. The forum discount was great!

kind suggestion: make re-doing your website the next priority :)

So you are writing to have the liner go around the box, and not under the edge of the box?
I was wondering if the box would fit on top of the liner if it was cut out like the carpet, and if the seats would still fit/lock on top of the box.

Have you done this with a long box and weather tech, or have seen it done successfully?

    God Bless,
    David B.

I like the idea of these, can never have too much storage, but I wonder about how much louder they make the truck cab. Anyone notice a difference?

You're cutting out like 3 or 4 inches of carpet and foam insulation. I feel like there HAS to be a slight downside to that....

The foam is not insulation. It is structural foam to form the floor between the seat rails. I have had both metal versions in my truck since we I designed it in 2014, and there is no added noise. I am very anal about noises.

That’s great news! Think I’ll add this to my list of things to add to my truck. Well, once my kids get out of their booster seats. ;)

So the floor isn't sheetmetal under the carpet there? It's just carpet and foam? Easy to cut?
