So, I recently bought a new 2020 Tundra, double cab, TSS 4x4 cement, 6.5’ bed. Seems to be a very nice truck. I’ve had a couple of Ford diesels that I installed bed (kick down) steps at the drivers side rear bumper. Absolutely one of the best mods that I’ve gotten a lot of use out of. Am currently searching for one that fits the ‘20 truck, and wondering if anyone has installed one on your Tundra. Which brand, and how difficult was the install. The Ford was super easy. Thanks

Thanks Jim! I keep running into red flags when I research this product that suggests it will not fit my 2020. I’ll call Bestop on Monday.

Send Mike a PM @eccracer104 I think the system is just not updated, nothing changed on the rear bumper.

Well, I called Bestop today and chatted with one of their tech guys, who told me that the 7530515 would absolutely not fit on a 2020 because the bumper mounts had indeed been changed. They had a new design step coming out soon that would fit. Since the 2020’s have been on the road for six months, one woulda thought they would have a step on the market by now, but...obviously not.

Wonder why they changed the mounts, there is no change in the bed or bumper?

Why Toyota needs to get off their ass and update and integrate more features into these trucks. A footstep molded into the bumper is easy to do.

    Cmon Toyota.

Must be on the 2019 or 2020, I never got a recall on my 2018.

I just bought and mounted that step from Cool Springs Toyota that is on Amazon. It says it does not fit the 2020 but it does great! I think they have not updated the Amazon ad. If you use their part number and go to the Toyota parts page it says that part fits the 2020. I installed it tonight and used the process in https://www.tundras.com/threads/oem...-changing-out-the-bracket.11764/#post-1672615
The kit comes with a new big bracket that you do not need to use. Just modify the existing bracket without removing it. Entire install too 20 minutes. Works perfect!

I had the Amp Research version on my 2017. Definitely a useful mod. Will look to get something similar on my new truck.

I looked at cutting that piece but all that does is weaken that back corner. I thought it was best to spend 100 dollars and let Toyota put it on since I could not. Now no weak corner.

I have the one from AMP research.
Make sure to check their model numbers. There is one that swings out diagonally to the back and one that slides out to the side; you do not want that one.
For the one that slides out diagonally, similar to the Bestop and the ones you buy from Toyota, there was a bumper bracket that had to be replaced. I just modified the OEM bracket instead of replacing it.
The Bestop has a slightly larger step, but the AMP follows the bumper's contour a little better when folded in.

Received mine a while ago...waiting on warmer weather to put on. I called The Dealer and $130 to install. Might go that route as rear enders are common in these parts.

Obviously do whatever you are personally most comfortable with. But once you take the OEM bracket out and compare it to the replacement bracket, what you will find is that the OEM bracket modified with three small cutaways leaves actually more steel, more bracket, and more enforcement than the replacement bracket. Keeping the original in place and just modifying it leaves more bracket than the one you would be replacing it with.

But as always the case, do what you feel most comfortable doing. Dealer install might be best way to go for your own peace of mind.
