That is what I dislike about it all myself although I get it. I guess it depends how deep you want to dive into the ins and outs of the profit machine which are "sucessfull" businesses. Plastic sucks ass in cars especially when they don t even try to hide it, but for businesses it s profit. I owned a LTZ Chevy Impala. I loved the power, and handeling, but had so much plastic in the interior that I had to sell it. I hated it, although I liked it, which in the end is an uncomfortable experience.

I like the Supra, like I admire BMW. Preferably from afar. They're neat, but nothing is the same as Toyota. From a repair perspective. It's going to
cost way more than Toyota to maintain(not even discussing repair which will be waaaay more). Toyota is the least expensive vehicle to own, maint wise, BMW
is most expensive. Toyota techs, are not going to be seeing these on a regular basis, and they are much more complicated to diag and repair compared
to any other Toyota vehicle, so expect longer repair times.

Need to adjust Camber? You'll need new spindles for that. Replace valve cover gasket? You'll need to replace the fasteners, as they're all single use items.

It's a completely different animal, and from a Toyota Service perspective, I'm disappointed. Toyota partnered with BMW to save money on development, and
keep the price on target. The people who bought them at $60k would pay $100k

Yes it does. The B58 is the new I6 engine after the N55. The N55 had a stupid electrical water pump which everyone single one failed. The B58 changed back to mechanical. Supposedly the new engines are better since during the time the N54 and N55 engines were made, BMW aggressively underpaid suppliers due to their contracts and bidding wars that in order for suppliers to make money, they had to use lower quality material for the parts. This is what left a sour taste and I can't imagine buying another BMW even if their new perceived reliability is much better.

I can understand that. A poor experience with a Cadillac has permanently damaged my view of GM products. However, if Toyota were to partner on vehicle that would bear the Toyota name, I wouldn't immediately write it off. I wouldn't let it be my daily or only transportation either. Same goes for the Supra. It would purely be for fun trips and weekends.

Only part way into this video, and it should start on the point that made me raise an eyebrow. Not sure I 100% buy it, but I'd like to believe it. I don't know why, I'll never be able to have one, but a guy can dream.

Yeah, apparently the 2020 Supra was a bit below the equivalent BMW, but the 2021 with the I6 is at the same power, at least according to the numbers. I think the Supra wins on the looks over the BMW. Because you can only go so fast legally, that alone would tip it to the Toyota version for me. I very much like the looks of the Supra, but I don't have the budget for a fun car anymore. I spend that on a different toy, and when that is paid off I need to bank all the $$$ I can.

Sadly, they lost me on the rear-end. It just doesn't look right.

Was very tempted by this one but didn’t want to scream mid-life crises.

Better to keep midlife crisis quiet? It is cheaper than a divorce.

To be honest I was on the same boat as everyone else hating the New Supra when first revealed. On images/videos looked kinda weird as I was use to the MK4 owned one myself so wasn’t very happy about new one but……. Will be honest don’t hate on the new Supra until you drive one or own one, or to minimum see it in person it does look awesome! Sounds amazing…….

Mid life? In my area the only people I see driving new Supra’s are kids that just graduated high school.

What would stop me are the lug studs. Small, but very irritating issue.

oooooh! The vents and such. I gotcha. Meh, it's for styling. The car looks good, and you could always just make them functional if it really bothered you.

Not sure if it was a 20 or a 21 or which engine it had, but i had one pass me going through glenwood canyon on i70. It sounded fantastic as it downshifted and stayed nice and flat around the turns. I haven't driven one, but hearing it and seeing it in action certainly put it on my radar. Very nice at a glance. I had 0 interest in one until i saw it / heard it in person.

Yup. The pics don't do it justice, and it's got a glorious sound. Not really a surprise when you think about it. Inline sixes are one of those engines that gets lots of people a little tight in the pants if they are done right. BMW has been doing I6 engines for an eternity, so they know how to get them sounding right.
