ohhh looky looky what came today. my next decision is to rattle can it (the right way) or have a body shop color match it salsa red. i'm kind of intrigued to see if i can pull it off following that diy paint thread on here.

and yes get the 5 clips and the 10 bolts. i actually went 6 and 11 because knowing me, i'll misplace one.

Which bolts did you use from Toyota? I'm the same way lol

    Did you need anything beyond:
    90119-A0156 (qty 10) 53191-0C010 (qty 5) ?

cool, so you put the strip on the bottom of the grill versus on the top bumper piece. that weather stripping is hard to find locally (for me at least). it's coming end of this month from china. lol.

got'er done! wanted a new grill for ~12yrs lol and this one was worth the wait. i chose to have the pieces prof painted and happy i did. seems salsa red pearl (code 3Q3) has 20+ diff shades so the shop had me bring the truck in so they can match the correct paint swatch and get the exact match. i bought cheap rattle can so could have been bad.

taking off the black top plastic trim piece on the old grill and putting the new hood bulge on the new one after it was mounted was a pita. also transferring the hood release bracket to the new grill sucked. my bolts were on there solid but came free after soaking in some wd40. took me 2hrs lol but i went slow to make sure i didn't scratch anything and cleaned up every where i could.
thanks for this thread OP and all the tips and advice from everyone! gives it a really unique look now compared to other salsa reds...

i got that weather stripping coming in end of the month.

Standard OEM. I have a mesh grill but the paint cracked on the surround bc it was chrome originally. A painted one will be easier to color match.

if you have a common color aka black, white or red, check out the oem painted rock warrior ones. Got a brand new one painted for $200 on ebay. has the grille and painted surround.

Mine is Barcelona which was not a color match option.

wasn't expecting to be breaking necks all weekend but dang. other early gen2 guys and truck owners staring hard. even the petite asian chick that works the pharmacy drive through, that has seen me come through many times before in the truck, was eyeballing it and asked "is that a tundra?". me smiling: "yeah, it is...."

i'm married and had to high tail it out of there before i get in trouble. my wife seems to know all, especially when shes not with me...lol.

For the 2nd Gen Tundras, does the hood still open normally (the grille lifts with it) or does this convert the grille to staying stationary and just the hood opening? Any modification needed to the hood latch?

Is it just me or is the mounting brackets different?? I’m trying to put mine on and the brackets that mount to the grill are different angles. Also the way the top shroud mounts is by push buttons instead of screws... I’m lost guys.

Yes, two mounting brackets are different. Also, you need new clips. Go back through this thread. It list all the parts needed. You can install with old brackets but it will be loose on the bottom.
