    Hello

I am new to Tundra and the forum and have gained great knowledge in a short time. I have a 2020 Limited with keyless start. I was wondering what the cost and how difficult the installation was for a remote start system.

It should be standard. Push lock on the key fob 3 times holding down on the 3rd. The lights will blink and the truck will start! Your welcome!

I didn’t think it had it because I asked the salesman and he said no. The Tundra brand seems unique in its option packages that way. I can’t believe it doesn’t have driver 1 and 2 memory positions either but I am coming from ownership of loaded big 3 trucks.

Back on point to be sure I just went and tested it and no it isn’t on there.

The range and the time that my factory remote start runs for is terrible :( I am going to be putting in the Accessorides plug and play kit this weekend, it was $239. I'll let you know how the install goes.

I'm surprised it doesn't work. I've seen other threads on here about it. That's how I figured out I had it. I read somewhere on here that it's part of the premium audio system. But I'm not sure of that.

Ive never worked in car sales, but I’m always surprised when I go look at cars (have done it a lot the past 2 years for my wife who is very indecisive and still has her old car) and I know more then the salesman. I think that’s his job and he’s not too busy to sit down and read the brochure in between customers. It makes the salesman look bad and me want to ask for a different salesman.

I went to Tech12 website and it doesn’t mention keyless 2020 AND states that shipping will not begin until the group buy numbers are met???

So I am going to wait until the vendor chimes in before I purchase anything.

He created links for certain group buys. I noticed they are old but still on the website. Call or email. I heard he answers emails quickly all times of the day.

So it works for you? We have the same truck and mine just locks the door and flashes the lights three times.

Funny, I remote started mine this week from the back porch so the signal had to go through the house to the truck in the driveway. I didn't think it would work. I am always able to start it from inside the house though. One thing if you don't sequence it just right it won't work as I have tried and it wouldn't start then one more time and she starts right up, I think if you pause the slightest bit between the 2nd and 3rd press it doesn't want to work you have to be consistent with the press, press, press/hold sequence.

I was gonna say, it definitely has remote start built in. Also, if you set up the Toyota Connect app, you can start, unlock, lock, track, check fuel levels, and even get a score on your driving habits (which it's best to just ignore) all straight from the app. The triple click on the keyfob can be tricky, you have to do it just right. Three quick clicks, holding on the third click.

Now my monkey-azz is going to spend all evening with a beer in one hand and the fob in the other trying to make it work. Neighbors are going to laugh...

The best advice I can give, is to treat it like you're double clicking a mouse - but three times and holding it on the last one. It really has to be fast, but distinct clicks.

Does anyone know what the fob on the left is?

I bought the truck used and salesmen didn’t know anything about the keys when I asked. I thought the fob on the left was an aftermarket remote start but after reading this thread seems remote start is standard. There is also a little antenna thing on the upper drivers side windshield with a flashing blue light that salesmen didn’t know anything about. Maybe the fob on left and that go together?

If someone sold you a truck, gave you those keys, and said it was a 2020 - You've been lied to my friend.

Remote start comes standard on the 2020s. That extra key fob looks like an aftermarket alarm with remote start. It would be pretty sweet if that trunk button opened your tailgate though.

haha it’s a ‘16. But the stock fob’s remotely start it too. I only found that out after reading this thread which led me to believe remote start came standard on 2016 too.

I had a 2015 and the fob worked the same way as 2020 but remote start wasn't standard it was an option I ordered.

Only thing I find annoying with clicking the key fob 3 times is if you have a pop n lock, the tailgate lock will will go off 3 times. Which was annoying to me which is why I got the carlink app

I think with the 2020 you have to have the Remote Services registered and enabled to get remote start. I deregistered my truck from the App and remote start from the fob stopped working, re-registered and it worked from both the App and fob.

I don't have the app. Never did. And probably never will from reading all the reviews on it.

This was my suspicion as well; it worked fine at the dealership, but them I'm sure they de-registered it while I was filling out the paperwork, cause when I got home I could not for the life of me get it working again. I asked around on here and was told it was a hardware thing and that Remote Services should have nothing to do with it - this was in November 2019 though, so most of my responses were from people that didn't have a 2020. Once I registered with Remote Services it's worked flawlessly every time I've tried on the key fob - I usually just go through the app though.

I think the reviews were based off of the old system, its a whole new system and app for the 2020's, and I love it.
