Have any proof of this "problem" on a 2.5"? I don't define poor cab soundproofing as a significant problem. More like quite the opposite, I want to hear what is happening while driving.

Not that there is any evidence to show that the CV's are really wearing due to this issue, but if they are, I would recommend swapping it sooner than later. It seems OEM CV's are getting harder to come by these days and they are definitely worth the extra $$$.

    None....
Humm needle bearings/ or 4x4 seems to be a minor common problem. Plus upgraded JBL stereo locking up. I don't have either of those...
I guess the old saying is true..."Chrome Don't Get You Home Boy!".

Aren't the 3rd gen bearing problems in the engine? Or do they also have the front diff bearing issue?

I've got a 2020; manufactured in January 2020, I believe, so prior to any major COVID issues.

Only two real issues I've had:

    1. *VERY* occasionally, when it's below freezing, I *believe* the HVAC system (sensors?) malfunction or something. I say this because what will happen is that the "HVAC LCD" screen will be blank for about 30 seconds, during which time I believe it's doing some system checks. Everything starts up then...but only blows air through the defroster vents. The rest of the time, I can easily change which vents it blows through, no binding or noise or anything.

    2. Stock head unit is going out. It works 99% of the time, but occasionally it'll reboot - and I mean very occasionally.

Annoying? Yes. With that said, ALL of the issues on ALL of the Toyotas I have owned don't equal all of the issues on my last truck alone ('13 F150), so while it's annoying...I'm not too upset.

Well, I’m replacing another blown speaker.

And despite these little issues, I’m very glad I have a 2.5 gen….

Have had a nagging faint vibration/noise at vehicle speed-only dependent intervals of 30, 45, and 60 mph for a while. Definitely separate from the differential needle bearing noise I fixed a while ago. Thought it was crappy tires as I am still on an OEM set of Bridgestone Duelers that still have decent tread and no irregular wear, but figured the rubber was getting hard.

This weekend the noise really took off and has reached honda civic fart-can exhaust drone levels of loud. The whole cab booms like I have a big subwoofer in the back seat at 45 and 60 mph. Whatever is vibrating feels like it has a rigid connection to the cab of the truck, definitely is coming from behind the drivers seat.

Thinking it has to be in the rear driveline somewhere. Dealer is looking at it Saturday. Weird because it is harmonic with the peaks in volume at 15mph intervals, between those speeds it fades out and goes away completely.

Kind of sounds like it is part of your drive line, maybe U-Joints or center bearing.

I have a 2020 1794, which is basically a Platinum. It has 57k on it and the only problem I've had was the driver's door check started catching and making a snapping noise in the first year. They replaced it under warranty and I have had no other issues except the headlight wiring recall. Everything else has been fine. It feels just as tight as the day I bought it. I'm even still on the original battery (I should probably knock on wood now).

I wonder if there was a bad batch of door checks, seems to be a somewhat common issue on the 2020's.

I would say yes as it is almost always the driver side.

2021 SR5 with 25K..less options so less stuff to go wrong. So far I've noted is this past winter was a squeaking from what sounds like the serpentine belt, it would come and go and I could never pinpoint it, and now has stopped. I noticed my coolant reservoir has lost about an inch. The "infotainment" screen is by far the most annoying. I use Apple Carplay with an iphone 14 and I all of a sudden last year the screen would glitch all the time, turn off/on at random. I found on the Rav4 forums people experiencing a same issue and recommended cheap wireless carplay dongle to at least get it working again, which worked but now the music info on the instrument cluster is stuck on the first song playing. Is it an Apple issue or a Toyota issue...and that's why I hate every new car, especially ones loaded with "tech." Just takes one update and all hell breaks loose. I'd rather have none of it.

Passenger rear wheel bearing replaced today under warranty and the truck is whisper quiet again.

Now that it’s fixed I realize the bearing had become extremely noisy lately, I was getting varying noises and vibrations at basically all speeds. Much more enjoyable to drive again.

The dealer tried to get me to pay $1450 for the replacement before I told them it was still under powertrain warranty. Looked like warranty payout on the invoice was just under $900. No wonder they tried slipping that one by me.

Well, my alternator bearing is going bad. Can’t believe I have to replace it, 62K on the clock. Pretty disappointing, my truck was either made Monday at 7:00AM or on a Friday at 4:59PM.

Ironic. Since my post above on June 10th, I had to replace my OEM battery on July 24th. I guess I jinxed myself.

Issue I had with my 21 limited crew max was a seperating headliner. Replaced under warranty took dealer about ten tries they could not do it right wanted me to get toyota legal involved. I wanted my truck fixed they called in an engineer out of cincinatti. He fixed on the 1st try. New head liner is a little rough looking on fabric edges front and back where liner meets front and rear glass.
Large Puff of smoke 2 times once at around 9 to 10 thousand miles 2nd time about 3 thousand miles ago. truck has 26 thousand miles on it. Bought it pre owned with a little under 8 thousand miles on it
Just came back from florida to kentucky and it ran great.

My truck still runs fine for the most part, it’s noisy as heck with the bearing going out and I need to replace this ASAP. Most of my issues are still relatively minor.

Bothersome how many there are at this point; it’s approaching my F-150 on repairs.

To the engineer who put the power steering pump over the alternator.

may you step on a 1000 legos tonight

    That is all.

Sorry for all your troubles, @yakeng. Hopefully this will be the last issue for you for a long time

My 2021 is coming up for 45k miles and was built in April of 2021. I had the factory battery go out and be replaced under the b2b warranty. My only other issues are that the lumbar support will make a crackling noise if it's at full extension and my arm rest is peeling near the shifter and driver seat.

Luckily I don't like the lumbar all the way out, so that's a non issue.

I will eventually address the arm rest. I'll try it myself with my heat gun and resort to a professional or a replacement if that doesn't work

Well I fixed everything this afternoon. Was surprised at how much quieter it is now that the alternator is fixed. Guess it’s been bad for a while.
