I have been watching Cars.com and Auto trader the past week or two since it was posted around the web that production of the 2020s was starting this month.
I like looking that the real dealer pic's of any new vehicle as apposed to the somewhat CG images seen quite often on the manufacture websites.
I had in particular been wanting to see the new 8in screen and the push button start features that were added for 2020.
I for some reason was under the impression that the push button start was going to be standard across all models of Tundra.
After looking at quite a few 2020 SR5 pic's that is not the case. Apparently SR5's were shipped ahead of the premium models, I was seeing actual pic's of 2020 SR5s late last week, and most of the SR5s still had a keyed ignition. Today I finally spotted a Platinum and it does appear to have the push button start. I am finding it a bit hard to tell in the pictures that the center screen is any larger then before, it supposedly was increased in size from 7" to 8".

I am not sure where the $4K is coming from, I know the Platinum I am considering buying this fall, is more like $1500-2000 more then the 2017 I had bought back in 2017.

The 2020 now has almost all the things I only wished my 2017 had.
Push button start, Led lighting , much better gauges, more info in the info screen, smart cruise, added safety features, larger center stack screen, more features like apple car play. Seems like quite a bit there for the money. It would have cost me close to that just to upgrade all the lights on my 2017 to LEDs.

Other then surround view cameras and an 8 speed+ transmission, overall I am pretty happy with the all improvements from 2017 compared to 2020 all for less then 2K price difference, from then to now. Every year there is a price increase on new vehicles, and quite often nothing gets changed or improved only the price goes up.

    Just kidding about it.
Seems like from 2017 to 2020 would be good but compared to 2019 there isnt much of a difference.

With the price I got mine for including the tires, cover, speakers, nerf bars and amp the only thing that has is an extra USB port

That "upgraded" screen is pretty disappointing. I'm not sure why, but I guess I was expecting something closer to the newer Camry as far as what it'd look like. It just looks like they cut out 1/4" on each side and slightly upgraded the software to allow for AA/CarPlay.

baaaahahaha think about the poor suckers who spent 4k extra for no reason, on top of not getting 0% financing on a 19.

Being that the fit looks identical to the current gen, maybe a plug and play harness can be made fro retrofitting!

Sticker (with destination charge) to sticker there looks to be about a $1,600 price increase. Not sure where you guys are getting the 4K increase??

I agree, I don't know really what I was expecting it to look like only being an inch larger, but I agree it is dificult to tell the difference from the 8" from the 14-19 7" screen.
For me the push button start is really a nice feature, it has been around in other Toyota's for years, supersized it took so long to make its way into the Tundra. The First time I had the feature was over a decade ago in a new Toyota 200 land cruiser, back when they came out in 2008.

Ok...I see where you are going with it now. To play devil's advocate you will have a one year newer truck at sale time which recoups some of the increase.

I did that last time with the 2017, a month or 2 later the 2018's came out and had the LEDs and smart cruise, and the improved gauges. All things I wished I had waited for. Just to upgrade to the 2018 LED lights was going to be more then I saved. I think the rebate at the time was 1500-2K .

I can wait a month or two for the 19's to thin out and the 2020's to get some incentives on the hoods.
That is one thing about it (there not being an all new model here) just the minor updates won't likely kill the sales of the 19s and its not like there will be some sort of shortage of product due to these minor updates, for me it simply solves the main complaints I had with the 2017 I had. I sold my 6.2L 2018 Silverado last month, and now I find myself thinking hard about going back to a Tundra largely due to the updates seen in 2018 and now 2020 as well.

I get that for sure. That was a meaningful jump. But just look at the differences between the 19 and 20. Pretty slim. If I were you, I would wait for the 2021. Why did you sell your 6.2 Silverado btw?

Well the silverado was having some issues with the climate control that the dealer was not able to resolve after 3 trips back and forth, and having plenty of vehicles in the stable so to speak, I figured might as well inquire about selling it back to them. It was an LTZ and had the dual auto climate control and with less then 10K miles on it it started going haywire where it would blow high speed ice cold on the driver side and high speed fan and fire hot on the passenger side. It would just do this at random and you could not make it stop other then to turn the climate system off. Its was July and very hot out, so my patients were running very thin after the 3rd attempt at fixing it.
The Dealer offered me $42K I had paid 45K for it a little over a year prior, so I figured might as well just cut it loose, since it was a fair offer for it and I was sick of dealing with the crazy climate control situation. I can always pickup something else later. I have other vehicles so I am not a foot, plenty of time to sort out what I want to replace the Silverado.

Man it’s not even flushed like the years before. What’s the point I rather just keep my 19 platinum and buy a alpine halo which will most likely make my stock system sound better and also for easier upgrading the system later if I wanted to without the whole jbl entune ordeal. I’m happy with what I got for now...

yup another terrible afterthought. Reminds me of exactly what they did to the 2016 Audi A4 before the new body style. Random things to lure people in for the gap year, and then total refresh.

Could be and I could be wrong on this, but for some reason I am recalling some changes to the pro where for 2020 you could get a pro optioned more like a limited with leather and luxury features where it seemed in years past they were part of the mid level SR5 family. Just saying there might be more options on some of the 2020 Pro's then they had in the past .

I love my tundra but come on Toyota, really? The screen fit looks like shit.
Why didn't you just make it as large as the whole trim area and use an auger bit to drill holes in it for the knobs.
If you couldn't redesign the dash area to look good, then don't make it look like a cheap reto fit.
I've seen some of the replacements done on here and they look way better then this pile of BS.
Oh, well, glad I have an 18

I know several people with that problem on GM vehicles going back to mid 2000s. I've heard it's an inexpensive part that takes a ridiculous amount of labor to replace. Have to take the dash down to parade rest.

I know the Pro model increased almost $2,900. Dealers are unlikely to discount them making the actual purchase price WAY higher than a 2019 model.

Well thought I would post an update. I thought I would be waiting till December to buy a 2020, but ran across one that was optioned really close to how I wanted it, emailed the dealer, then text back and forth for a few hours the next day, 2 days later I was making an 8 hour round trip to pick it up.
Bought a 2020 white platinum. Loving all the new features and tech my 17 platinum was missing.
Now waiting on some accessories to get here.

I like it better then the screen in the17. Better resolution and I am glad they increased the screen size too.
