It works the same with remote start and key. I think the first time it was just a coincidence that it finally worked while trying remote start. This time it did not work with either, finally worked with the key.

BUT not that my conspiracy mindset is here. BOTH times my wife was with me and had her keys with her, with a sienna key fob and one of those tiles for find your keys. Both times it finally started working again after she had been picked up and her keys were gone.

Ok so I got my truck back, they said everything is fine and they can’t duplicate it. But he did say that it DID show a start failure as if it was the start immobilizer. He asked if I had switched any lights to led’s, I have not.

maybe the remote start? Suppose to bypass the immobilizer, I have now removed it anyways.
Maybe the veecan I had plugged into the OBD? I left it there.
Maybe having my wife’s keys in the car? Weird but maybe.

I’ll update if it happens again.

This issue happened again. When I put both keys in the immobilizer light went away, so it’s not an immobilizer issue. The engine would crank and crank and crank…no start. Finally after 80 minutes I cranked it too many times and the battery was too low to turn the engine over. Hooked up my jumper and it started fine. This is the 4th time the truck has left me stranded. This dealer also won’t replace any parts BUT the battery, which happens to be the one part of troubleshooting that isn’t covered under my platinum warranty. They say they can’t “throw parts at it” even though this is the second time I’ve brought it in for this problem.

I have nothing aftermarket that ties into the electrical system but a subwoofer. All 4 times this has happened has been completely out of the blue after driving around town for at least 30 minutes. The battery passed their test, although marginally.

This has happened to me twice in the last month & a half. I also have a subwoofer installed but no other aftermarket upgrades. The engine continuously tried to crank but it won’t turn over.

It was my fuel pump. My dealership was being a pain in the ass, they wouldn’t fix anything until they could replicate it. Somehow the history didn’t show a loss of fuel pressure? Well I got a golden horseshoe up my ass, it happened a total of 4 times in 3.5 years and one of those times was while it was at the dealership. I think it was actually a bad fuel pump install from the recall, either way it hasn’t happened since.

Yes covered under the platinum warranty. That warranty already paid for itself. Although that fuel pump was already replaced once for the recall, so there’s a good chance they would have covered it anyways.

I’m not sure if mine is covered by the recall. I bought the extended warranty but I’m already past the 100k mark on miles. Hopefully the recall covers it.
