Seems like there was a recent thread where OP’s truck was cutting out throttle while towing, almost like dropping into Limp mode. By the end of the thread it was determined cruise control was causing this.

I discovered this about a week into owning my truck and never went back to the radar CC. It slows down WAY too much when it feels like you’re approaching a vehicle.

It is a standard safety warning to not use cruise control while towing. The same for driving in the rain. I am sure every manufacturer will have it in their manual.
That along with the dynamic cruise feature and crash avoidance nannies - these are typically calibrated for an unloaded vehicle. When you are towing your stopping distance is affected - this varies depending on the type of trailer, weight, road conditions etc. There is no way for Toyota to program the truck for every variable possible, so it is safer to warn against using the CC.
But if you want to, you can still use it. Just use normal CC instead of the Dynamic CC. (Just hold the button for a few secs when turning it on)

I agree. You would think with it pinging radar out there, it could better judged closing speed, but no we will just jab on the brakes and scare the shit out of you. It's fine in open highway, but I live south of Chicago and after a certain mile marker, I turn it off because its useless.

Plus I wouldn’t want the PCS to brake hard while towing a trailer. Good reason for Toyota to tell you to turn the PCS off and use manual cruise control

genius! how am I so dumb for not noticing this. On my drive into work tonight I noticed myself not using CC control at all because of the adaptive CC. thank you for showing me how blind I can be.
