2019 JBL headunit conversion to 2020+ JBL Apple CarPlay /Android Auto

I converted from a 2019 headunit without Apple CarPlay to 2020+ OEM Apple CarPlay with Entune 2.0 to Entune 3.0 Transplant Harness from autoharnesshouse.com!

I was wondering if it could be done. Can you give detailed instructions on how it can be done? Most likely I'll have to do this. Anything you can share would be great!!

 

It can be done once you have the harness since the connectors are different, but for us that are into sound quality, aftermarket units are the way to go.

 

How much is the harness? Is it basically plug and play once you have that? Any programming required?

 

Did the audio quality improve at all?

 

It is plug and play. A bit hard to find the JBL Headunit and Amp but once you get those parts and the AutoHarnessHouse.com adapter, it's easy-peasy...

 

This is cool but from what I am seeing the new head units are $600+ if you can find them. With that, the amp and the harness the cost would be upwards of $1000. Unless I could find the head unit really cheap then I am probably better off just upgrading to aftermarket.

Some more info on what units work and how you did this would be appreciated though.

 

Does the new JBL entune 3.0 have both wired and wireless carplay or just wired? I have a 2019 Tundra with JBL system and I just bought the JBL headunit and amp on eBay from a 2021 Tundra. I have ordered cables from autoharness.com. Just curious is I will end up with one or both connection options for carplay. Thanks, Steve
