They even include FFV! Can someone translate what I would need to do to get a a tune on mine?

Buy the points then tell them what you want? I think it is that simple? Someone will chime in. I posted back there and I think it is 4 points or whatever they call them and then purchase the tune.

There are different products you can purchase from what I read??? I am in the dark and scared too about changing system??? To something different??

Buying their product to open things up is like 600. Then you have to find someone to tune the truck.

HP Tuners does NOT tune, they ONLY provide the hardware and software. You would have to buy the HP Tuners MPVI2+ which is an OBDII interface that connects the HP Tuners VCM tuning software to the on board control modules of the Tundra. You would then have to have somebody/pro tuner write the actual tune for you in VCM.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    exactly.

this opens the ECU up for anyone to either tune it to perfection....or the exact opposite.

    tread lightly.

I don't want to be anywhere near the cockpit of an HP Tuner. I know me.

read thru some of these hieroglyphics...

So the supercharger companies that say they use HPTuners to tune for their Supetcharger what are they doing then?

That is why this whole thing scares me,, opening up the system and reprogramming just worries me??

up until recently, they were either tuning the Pre-18's on a dyno or selling you a tune file to upload (remote tune).

now that the pre-22's are open, they will do the same. either tune it on a dyno or sell you a tune file for you to upload.

if folks are thinking they can just log in and start changing variables...Godspeed to you.

So they ARE selling tunes then??? What?? I don’t get it????

i guess I just don’t understand,, I reckon a tune and a Supercharger will be left to those that are more daring.

HP tuners does not sell tunes...various tuners do ..see @ViktorG

HP tuners sell you the electronic mechanism to either tune the truck on a dyno (at a hot rod shop) or upload a tune (remote tuning).

Think of the HP tuners as the doorway to your entire ECU. kinda like pandora's box.

or you could dance with the devil & do it yourself.

I did not use HPtuners, my shop (D3 Performance) used some other software. (Toyota fitkit+magnuson) similar results I suspect.

I do not have the ability to tune myself....they loaded it on my ECU with their doo-dads. I do not have a gadget to change tunes.

It seems like HPTuners sells the ability to tune. You have to get someone else to perform the actual tune. For all of that money, I'd expect it to have a better than stock tune included.

So the supercharger companies was doing the tuning,,, they were just using HPTunes to unlock the system?

maybe, or any of the other companies that sell tuning doo-dads. bullydog, etc

take Magnuson...once the blower is installed you uploaded the the stock Mag tune using some software like HPtuners...or did you mail it the ECU? my memory.

the trick is getting Toyota to unlock the ECU, then you can upload/change using most any tuning specific interface.

HP tuners is just the best out there.

I was not willing to wait, so as soon as the ECU was opened, D3 was able to tune my Harrop. I was lucky, I live near the shop.

You did it the best way, tuning on a dyno is much better than remote tuning.

For Magnuson you use VFtuner on the 2019+, which is flash via laptop.

I wonder how much Ekanoo's Tundra put down, they were running mid to high 12s consistently with it, imagine telling people 10 years ago you can run mid 12s on a full size pick up truck that's not a dedicated drag machine.

Wow, that thing still exists, I remember back in 2001 there was one like that and I was an avid bench racer thinking I'd make history with a 12s car.

We gonna keep a 1/4 mile time sheet for all of us?

I'd love to see the results.
I just don't have a decent 1/4 mile stretch to run this. this Truck does NOT stop as well as she goes.
I eyeballed a decent stretch of frontage road. it does not have any other street feeding it.
Once I get this crap out of my bed, I'll give it a go.

    more so,
now that tuning is more accessible, I'd like to see how our stock block hold up.
and what the max HP numbers would be if properly tuned.

I need those tires that are on the TRX....How does that truck stay together?

Definitely need the stoptech ST60 kit, I like mine so far.

Honestly our drivetrain is just as strong if not stronger than TRX, they run Dana 60 in the rear, which only has 9.75" ring gear, while we have 10.5" in the back, where the front on the TRX I think it's still 8.5" ring gear and we have 9", TRX uses a transfercase based off the Trackhawk which is strong but has some issues.

Transmission, I think we are probably on-par, where 8hp may be tad stronger.

Engine, IIRC hellcat blocks are cast iron, this is where they have an advantage vs ours in alloy, but then Prospeed says their block is good for 900hp.

May be 800hp would be a safe limit for a fully built bottom end? and mid 600hp for stock? afterall stock TRD kit was low 500s, and those definitely have been put through on reliability testings.

I don't suspect they will get much better until some folks get off their wallet.

I'm wanting to see some Tundra HPTuner hoonage.
