It's the same in Canada. I think my father in law may be wrong on the year.

This sounds similar to my predicament a few months ago. I couldn’t find anything that was a couple years old with low miles that wasn’t within $4-5k of a new one. I decided that for the extra money, I’d just get a new one.

The most significant change as others have pointed out is the trans cooler. It doesn’t appear that Toyota did anything whatsoever to offset this deletion. Very disappointing. And I didn’t know Toyota had deleted it when I bought mine. I assumed it had one. Had I had that information prior, I might have made the decision to stick to 2018 and older.

That said, I love my truck. I’m in an SR5 with the Off Road package. Keyless start, CarPlay, and dual climate make it feel like I’m not driving a 14-year-old truck, even though that longevity is why I decided on it vs other half tons. I don’t like the Toyota safety sense stuff and I firmly declined the Toyota safety connect. I’ve swapped suspension, relocated my rear axle breather, added a trans cooler and some shackles, and it’s settling in to how I want it set up for how I use it.

I will say, through — it’s cheaper to go with a 2018 and add CarPlay than to do what I did and go with a 21 and add a trans cooler.
