I'm amazed that the taco values aren't through the floor. Totally get, and agree with the last gen holding their value so well, but the new ones? It seems that the general consensus is that they suck balls, underpowered, transmission issues and so on, I'd pay more for a previous gen than the new ones.

Buddy of mine has 2016 Tacoma, I call it the gear hunter. Plus the seats suck, very uncomfortable seating for long trips. Taking the Pro on our next mountain bike trip. Hopefully Toyota will get with the program and redo the Tacoma, although they still look badass.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
This list makes no sense to me, if the 4runner has an equal or better resale percentage why is it behind the Tundra? Also, I would not expect the 2018 Tacoma to even be on the list for this generation. Something seems off...

I had a 2016 TRD Sport DCLB Taco for a service loaner two years ago. I actually really liked that truck. But at the time I was in a 15 Taco 2.7 with a manual transmission. I had it for a week while mine was in the body shop. Only thing I didn’t like was the headroom sucked with a sunroof. The transmission seemed fine to me.

The 2016 Tacoma is not that much different than the 2nd gen. Gearing aside, the around town driving is great. It has much more techie items to offer.
The Tundra resale is hit harder because of the higher sticker to begin with. The Tacoma wins on resale/trade in value.

MY WIFES DD WAS A 2016 TRD SPORT DCLB. COMPLAINED TO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH TRANS THE FIRST 4 SERVICE VISITS. FINALLY A SA TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO SEARCH FOR THE RIGHT GEAR ALL THE TIME, HATED IT. TOWING SOMETHING MADE IT WORSE.
I WILL SAY IT HAD A WAY BETTER RIDE AND WAS WAY MORE COMFORTABLE THAN THE 2015 SILVERADO I DROVE AS A COMPANY SUPPLIED TRUCK.

This is exactly why I went with a Tundra this time instead of a shitty Sierra. Lost my ass on that truck.

Same thing happened to me when I bought an 07 Colorado new. I was an idiot and tried to save $2k over a Tacoma. Lesson learned.

I don't understand how they establish the 60 month resale value of a vehicle that just came out less than a year ago.

I just traded in a 2017 Tacoma and I really didn’t lost much on the vehicle. It really did hold true to the article even tho the article was for 2018s.
But I did really dislike the Tacoma due to how cramped I felt. I didn’t have any issues with gear hunting or vibrations or anything like that while I owned it.

I just traded my 2002 Tacoma on the Tundra. They gave me $9,000 for a trade. I paid $19,500 for it 16 years ago. They currently have it on the lot for 10,999. That is 56% of the original price. That is just unbelievable. I wonder what they would have offered me for a 16 year old Dodge Dakota or Chevy S10. Probably $1,000. It's awesome!

Pretty sure it’s based on brand/model history.
