So, I went to a new car owner's clinic at our Toyota dealership tonight and was told that ALL Toyota dealers have now been asked to stop offering leveling kits as an option for 2018 Tundras. Was also told that some dealers are now refunding customers for the kit they already bought and are returning the Tundras back to Toyota specs. Was also told that a dealership in Utah that had done a lot of levels was trying to come up with a fix/mod or something to solve the TSS issue for Toyota. The dealership said Toyota was losing a lot of Tundra sales because of the TSS issue. Crazy that this wasn't thought about beforehand, and Toyota is now doing this because of liability. Guess we'll see what happens............. :notsure:

I want to level my 2018 Tundra and I’m worried about losing the TSS, I’m thinking there has got to be a simple way to adjust the sensor since it’s in the emblem on the grill. Any thoughts?

Seems like if leveling is a problem, then they need to hurry up and release the Pro grille. I would assume that since it is level from the factory, that toyota has compensated for it in the grille and sensor location. Maybe that is why the sensor is located in the bottom grille opening of the new Pros, instead of the center.

I get happier everyday that I bought a 17 and upgraded to 18 headlights and didn't wait on the 18's.

I've been fighting this battle since they day I took delivery of the truck. I've also been saying it's not a lift/level issue. It's on a truck by truck basis, ive come to the conclusion, based on everyones provided information, its either a bad batch of PC sensors or a batch of SRS ECUs. This is not a localized issue for just 1 dealer and it's doing it to stock trucks as well. The fact of the matter is that Toyota has failed a lot of its customers by not being more pro active in getting this issue fixed in a timely manner. You'd think they would have had some sort of back up plan in place.

Sounds like corporate CYA to me. Will the sensors not work properly if my truck is more level due to cargo in the bed and / or the tongue weight of a trailer on the hitch?

From what I understand, it’s not so much the radar sensor in the grill but the camera in the windshield that’s the issue. I still think this is not a lift issue but a random issue since people have been having issues on lofted and stock trucks alike.

How do you turn it off? I have the lane assist off and hold down the cruise button before setting it so the radar is off. Anything else?

I’ll be sure to dig for more info when I go in for my 5k service. I don’t want to go big, but would like to go 3/1. Many people say they did with no issues but I’d hate to start butting heads with Toyota if mine starts throwing errors.

Two weeks after driving only 600 miles I had about 2 hours of errors on the PFC system. Finally it said bring to dealer. They replaced the sensor all together. No problems since. Getting a lift in a few weeks should be no problems fingers crossed. No way I will keep stock.

Reporting back: lifted 2018 with larger tires, use TSS features daily. Zero issues. Did get the software update from Toyota before lifting.

At this point it should be getting pretty clear that the failures are due to a faulty batch of hardware.

When I got my update, I asked the service manager if he had seen any TSS issues related to lifted/leveled trucks and he said no. They stock/sell dozens of lifted 2018s constantly. This is the biggest Tundra dealer in TX (so likely biggest in the country) and that's enough confirmation for me.

Thats great if they are correct but I beg to differ from them unless in the software update is fixed the height proximity of the radar.

On a side note my stealership service manager told me they changed the oil in my tundra at the 5000 mile mark per my request. After me checking the dipstick following my service it was brown as dirt so I can say they are really honest technicians

I still have some rake so it's possible the level/bro lean trucks might have issues

Hi All, I'm new to this forum and I'm amazed to see how many new owners are having this problem. I bought a new 2018 Platinum Crewmax in June, and had the dealer install a 3/2 leveling kit. After about 200 miles I got the Anti Collision system malfunction light along with radar cruise control unavailable. I just got around to getting it to the dealer this week (they've had it for 3 days) and told me they found a wiring issue on the ground side of the computer so they fixed that but that didn't fix my problem. I told them I've been reading on line about these sensor issues and they said that their field manager told them since I had the truck lifted it's not covered under warranty. How's that for some serious BS?!?!? I should have never traded in my 2014 SR5 - I never had ANY issues with that truck. I paid $50,000 for a truck that they won't back now. Unbelievable. I'll take it up the ladder and let you know how it turns out.

Less than 500 miles and I was getting a PCS error randomly. Took it to the dealer and they replaced it and now it hasn’t done it since. I’m still not convinced it is fixed with all the reading I’ve done on this issue. I’m about to level the truck out with Bilsteins and put some wheels and tires. Hopefully it doesn’t come back.

So are Toyota dealers saying that leveling kits are voiding the warranty on the vehicles or they just won’t honor the warranty related to making sensors and radar cruise control work properly??

Leveled my platinum about 3 weeks ago now (Bilsteins) and haven’t noticed any issues at all yet. Radar cruise control works great, lane departure works as it should. Haven’t tested the pre-collision yet, just cause I’m not that ballsy. I am very pleased with how it has turned out.

Do these issues roll into the 2019s? Just purchased a 2019 sr5 tss crewmax and like to get it leveled just curious about the whole warranty void that bring to my concerns.

Most of these safety “features” are federally mandated items to remain compliant. Similar to TPMS, I really doubt there is any way to disable these features.

Yea. Same stuff in 19’s. It’s not as big a problem as the minority in these groups make it out to be though.
