i know there are some threads discussing the PCS isssues, but I can’t seem to find any related to lifted trucks. My PCS will come on, even when I cut It off, and tell me there is a malfunction. I have a 2018 Tundra, that was lifted by the dealer, and I questioned them about the sensors. Said it wasn’t an issue. I’ve put 1000 miles on it the last 2 months, and it just started happening.

Welcome to the party!! ...and Yes, lifting can cause pre-collision sensor issues. Most Toyota dealers will make you sign a waiver of release of liability before lifting trucks. Either way if it's a new truck and dealer put the lift on, they need to warranty. Start taking pictures of it when it happens and keep a log/record of it happening. Good luck getting it fixed.

It's possible it's due to the rake, or lack thereof. May need a ZPC

The system is garbage. TSS Harness and pre-collision sensors have been redesigned to fix the issue. The fix is more than just a firmware update. Going through it now. They fixed mine but put the old sensor back on instead of the new. But the did replace my harness already. Getting new sensor tomorrow.

My understanding on the leveling kit, is that it can mess it up, if the rake isn’t adjusted correctly. But, there are lots of answers to these questions. I disable it all every time I get Into the truck, but it will show malfunction sometimes too. I just told the dealer to figure out the solution and call me when they are ready to fix it. It isn’t my daily driver so it doesn’t bother me as much.

If one is getting ready to buy a new Tundra should one (I) make sure the new sensors are in place first?

As far as being lifted? The sensors are set from the factory and in place. I thonk The issue is that you don’t really know if they are set how they need to be until it is driven more, so most dealers won’t know. My truck had 60 miles on it when I bought it. 6 inch lift, and 35’s. Nothing showed up until I hit around 800 miles or so.

I just had the third sensor failure. I think this will be an ongoing problem no matter if a truck is lifted or not. Mine showed up after 1000 miles

Well Toyota stepped up and gave me an 8 year/125k platinum warranty for free. Hopefully this pre-collision issue doesn’t happen again.

You need to keep the factory rake.

I agree. Mine was lifted with rake 11/17, has not had any recalls done yet, and works perfect.

The truck is higher in the back and lower in the front when you buy it. That is the rake. That’s why you see someone show a 3/1 level.

Will the dealership replace this stuff or do you have to pay for it yourself? I want to lift mine, only 3" max but keep being told it will screw up the sensors and that I can have then removed but will have to pay 3 hours labor which I am okay with. I just rather have it done right? My dealership has not said a word about the wiring and sensors being redesigned for this fix.

Dealerships have given me nothing but grief and misinformation..
I have been calling around since purchasing the truck to see if some one has come up with a fix but nada so far.
Last call they mentioned that larger wheels will screw up the speed sensors and braking distance on top of the alignment issues in the cruise control etc..

What are you trying to find out? Per Toyota specs, you can lift the truck up to 3”. Anything past that and it will not be covered under warranty. That’s what I was told.

Speedometer will be off of course but that’s easy to figure out. You can throw a hypertech on it and everything will be back to normal.
