Just ordered passenger side Headlight Assembly Unit. These are Non-Removable LED Bulbs. Still under 1 yr. Warranty.

Wow, I didn't know you could not replace the LED bulbs. Seems like a bad design.

So you gotta replace the entire thing? Yikes. And I don't think toyota extended warranty includes headlights either.

I didn't know that either. Prepare to fork out $320 per light if its past the warranty.

Was the bulb itself bad? Do you do a lot of night driving? LEDs have incredible lifespans.

Hell, I might grab a pair of spare 2019 black ones before they move to the next gen tundra, since replacement parts might get more expensive. Alternatively one of the aftermarket companies makes a replacement unit for cheap.

Oops, this should be covered under the 1 year/12,000mi warranty did you asked your Toyota parts seller before buying a new housings? My LED housings are almost a year now (September 2017) and luckily everything is working good.

No bulbs are used. They are soldered surface mount LEDs, of course they are not user replaceable and require a headlamp replacement.

What else did you guys expect? An LED bulb? 12000k?! $50 on egay?! Ha

Soldered Surface mount LEDs, it's an excellent design. Not sure why you think it's bad?

Having to replace a $320 housing vs a LED bulb sounds bad to me. The design may be great, I'm not an engineer. I'm looking it as a wearable item that will have to be replaced.

I'm actually an engineer, smd is a better design than a bulb.

The LED boards are replaceable but this involves opening your headlight housings to replace it and this isn’t so easy to do for the end user.

I can't imagine Toyota would sell just the board either.

But now you got me thinking...a diode Dynamics upgraded board....or even better, an iHacker upgraded board with 1.5-2 times the output!!!! Haha! I dig the look of the lights, juts wish they had just a bit more output.

Hahahahaha I don’t think Toyota would ever offer replacement boards to consumers but yeah Diode Dynamics should come up with something in the future, if you have the right tools and the guts to open your headlights this LED boards could be modified with something better, I’m not doing this because I want a perfect seal in my headlights that’s why I didn’t liked my retros

I assume this will be an isolated thing.

Toyota would have a lot of unhappy customers if they have to replace entire headlight assemblies every few years.

I took my truck in for 25k service at Escondildo Toyota. They performed the multi-point truck inspection and notified me the passenger side high beam was not working. They weren't sure if the warranty was void because these units where exclusively designed for 2018 trucks.

I don't do much night driving, I don't off-road (yet), I bought these lights in November of 2017 and installed them with @iHacker s harness.

so did they replace it under warranty? you sure its the headlamps and not faulty wiring/harness? it could be a pin that has gone lose or bad.

In November last year we still used the Motocontrol so be sure to check there too, you can swap housings to be sure isn’t a harness issue, we did this troubleshoot with the other guy with faulty headlight and definitely wasn’t a harness issue so he requested a replacement under Toyota warranty.

Keep us updated and if this is a harness issue send me a PM.

Ok guys the High Beam harness plug was inverted. Sorry for the delay. I use my rig for my daily work, and didn't have time to check it until now.

I never checked it myself after installing them. I had my helper tell me it worked when I flashed the high beams from inside the cabin with the hood up.

Mine did the same thing. Passenger side high beam went out. Maybe a flaw design.

After all these guys saying LEDs are bad, glad I have halogen bulbs, blah, blah, blah, it ends up being the AFTERMARKET parts fault...

Glad it worked out OP. Just rember guys, when modding a vehicle, always place your bets against the AFTERMARKET part installed, rather than the OEM part!

Nah it was the light. I actually swapped sides and the high beam worked. Replaced light under warranty and never another issue.
