2018 Grille - Hot or Not?

Considering changing my 2014-2017 trd pro grill to 2018 platinum. Both are great but the platinum more low key.

 

I'm not crazy about the honeycomb because it's been done to death, and there's alot of it. The black with color match looks okay, certainly don't want chrome, prefer the TRD Pro style. But what the hell do I know?

 

I'm going to put my trd pro grill from my 16 into my 19.

 

I like it on my 2019. And I like chrome. I’m old school.

 

This looks amazing. I have a 2016 Platinum so I already have the painted surrounds. I think the thicker center lines makes it look chunkier and nicer than the Platinum grille. Might need to see if I can get a used one and swap it as well.

Personally, I'm not a giant fan of the old (or new) TRD grilles on a Platinum. Something weird about not having that dark center part on the bumper to go along with it. I do love the honeycomb mesh though. Still might swap to that but it's not my priority.

 

Honeycomb is great for a factory grille.

looking at a aftermarket grille and it says it will fit a 2014-2017 and NOT a 2018 is that only because of the TSS ?

 

Is this possible to do? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

 

How hard was it to remove the original "center section" of your 1794 grill? I have been thinking of doing this EXACT setup.

 

I upgraded to the 19+ Pro grille on on ‘21 and got it from MC auto as the surround came painted.

I wish I swapped out inserts and kept the honeycomb.

I’d love to swap to the limited grille and black it out or find a nightshade version.

 

The grill comes with the surround. You can't get them separately.

 

Bumping up this old thread. Anyone have pictures of 2018 platinum grille with the land cruiser emblem installed?

As soon as Toyota parts has a decent sale again I'm going to swap my 2016 1794 grille to an 18+ platinum.
