2017 White TRD PRO Build

Replaced my Lund Steel Terrain HX Step Nerf bar with Go Rhino RB 20 running boards. After knee surgery, the nerf bars didn't hit the right place to support me getting in out. These are a higher step by way more foot coverage.

 

Add an UnderCover Armor Flex Tonneau Cover. It comes with a Linex finish, it matches my new GoRhino running boards. I like that it has prop rods to support hold it in place when you fold it all the way up.

I also replaced my front Weather Tech liners with Husky liners. My driver's side had curled up and the fix from Weather Tech was to take it and place weight on it for 24 hours, to hopefully form it back.

 

We had four inches of snow yesterday morning that left by 4 pm. Today was sunny and in the low 60s. So I finished up my VLed upgrades today with the front and rear footwell lighting. Loving the V-Leds crazy bright.

 

Finished Sunday with another simple install, wireless charger.

 

Took some time this afternoon to finish installing items I bought for AJT back in January. Love the look without the chrome overall everything went pretty easy. I thought the climate knobs would be harder than they ended up being. The 4x4 knob was pain in the ass. The video on the AJT site doesn't give it justice to how hard the bottom clip was getting loose. Couple more things to add over the weekend. Gear shift trim support easy and make the rest of the AJT material fill like a natural fit.

Update on the climate control knobs. Don't forget to put back these plastic tabs. Otherwise, the knobs come off. Details Details.

 

Did a few more simple upgrades this morning, removed the husky liner logo and replaced with Husky x-Act Badges from https://www.trdbeast.com
Nice fit and easy to install. The fast thing I have installed, 5 minutes.


Also added the vinyl dash insert and door sill with a pop of red. Nice product have to take your time but not too bad. Took about an hour.

Last thing was to swap out the factory cabin filter after 28k miles to a new K&N filter. Easy install takes 10 minutes.

Got one more change coming Monday and then it time to do a little shopping small tweaks. FN Wheels are still not coming in until June, so small things until after that.

Swapped out the Tundra stencil on my grill today. The font was wrong so the company sent me just the stencil plate to swap out. The swap would have been super easy but when it was fabricated the screws they used I guess were longer so the company cut screws.. Which caused issues removing them, but even worse trying to go back. So, I will be hunting down new ones to replace all of them to match. Still very happy with the final product.

 

Installed the pedal commander today. Definitely changes the truck's response, should be fun to play around with. Not sure where the final home for it will be yet.

 

I've got a few ideas for my truck, I'll drop the materials and truck off about noon, lol. Wow, nice adds. You've definitely given me some ideas. I'm new to the forum but I have gone through your build, nice job.

 

How do you like the Pedal Commander? Does it increase response time and speed or just response?

 

It definitely increased the throttle sensitivity. I have tried all the modes and the city plus 2 seems pretty good. But I have only had one day with it. Sport + I personally don't see it being useable it is crazy sensitive. I plan to try out the sport mode more this week. It definitely did what I wanted and improved the response of the truck when you step on the throttle. Definitely more like having the tow mode turned on.

 

Does the wireless charger work with an iPhone and Otter Box?

I will keep my eye on the look out. I find my self all the time wanting to throw a wave to other Tundras.

 

Not sure about it working with the Otter box. My wife and I both covers on the backs for our iPhones and it worked fine.

 

You cant miss me..i have a big orange Oakley O at the bottom left of the windshield.

 

A couple of small things came in this week, Kempter Kustom hitch cover, AJT steering wheel emblem, and battery tie-down from @Coupe!

First up Kempter Kustom hitch cover, is well-made rock solid and they created the design my wife and I came up with. I can't say anything about the build it is solid, but the fitment in the hitch is off. It doesn't fit snug up against the hitch slot. Which I am afraid to be a rattle nightmare. About to find out when we head out for dinner. That and long lead time for the product has left me with less than desirable experience.


Next up AJT black steering wheel emblem, like all of the items I have gotten from AJT just awesome. Great fit, easy to install and looks just awesome

Last item form @Coupe the awesome battery tie down is great. Heavy-duty, great quality, and everything he said it would be.

 

Picked up my FN wheels today from FedEx. They have been on backorder for a while but I happy I waited. Dustin did a great job keeping my up to date on the status and got me the wheels out to do me quickly once he did his checks. Tires hopefully go on Monday.

 

Sweet build so far!! How did the hitch cover hold up with the rattle? I've been eyeing a few from Kempter.

 

The rattle sound wise was not noticeable but it not fitting flush just pissed me off. I had a buddy of mine cut the receiver part off and re-do to fit flush. Look much better and not rattle.

 

Got some new wheels and tires today. FN BFD wheels and Nitto Ridge Grappler 295 70 18. Got some rubbing that will need to fixed tomorrow but should not be anything big. Here is a before and a couple of after pics. I'll take more in the morning with better light.
