I agree that the original statement is old news, I was just making a general comment though that I don't see how some of the people are willing to pay that sort of markup for a vehicle, but then again, my money is different than their money. What might be a lot to me may not be a lot to them. There are still a few used Pros in the area if you're still interested in one.

Without that markup, I would be all over it!

Don’t pay $70,000 for ANY TRD PRO. That’s a ripoff!! Plus, it’s already a two year old truck. Toyota stopped building the 2017 TRD PROs in late 2016 because they didn’t know which way they were going to go with TRD for the Tundras. Now, they have decided on all the bells and whistles for the new 2019 TRD PRO, so I would wait to get the 2019. The price would definitely not be anywhere close to $70K. They say it’s going to be priced in the $50s, not $70s.

Was going to say something similar, my 2017 Pro was built 7/25/17. They were still making 2017s until August of last year.
Totally agree on price though, was happy to get mine for MSRP.

You’re all correct, I meant to say that Toyota decided in late 2016 to halt the making of TRD PRO Tundras for 2018 model year. I bought my Pro in September of 2017 and it was also built in August of 2017. Nevertheless, $70K is way too much for any pickup truck!!! I even paid $67K for my wife’s 2018 Landcruiser. And that’s Toyota’s flagship vehicle. Being their most expensive vehicle sold here in America under their Toyota name brand.

When I were looking for my Pro last year, there was a dealership in Texas that had a 2016 new Pro with a 4” lift, off-road front and rear bumpers, winch, and a magnuson supercharger, selling for $64K and I thought that it was too expensive at the time. :spending:

Yup. The aftermarket pickup truck accessory business is booming right now. The thing that dealerships don’t tell you until you’re ready to finalize the purchase, is that if you are planning to finance the heavily modified vehicles, finance companies will only finance the MSRP plus, factory added parts that are customary options. So, if the TRD PRO’s MSRP is let’s say $48K. And the usual and customary options that Toyota offer, like premium off-road wheels and tires costs an additional $4K, that will put the price of the vehicle to $52K. There are many banks that will not finance more than 2-5% more than MSRP. So, you will have to come out of pocket with a much bigger deposit. That’s one of the primary reasons why Toyota stopped selling their TRD superchargers. The banks didn’t want to fund any amounts of $10K more than MSRP. They weren’t making any money or selling the superchargers.

I don’t know all that is included as modifications or upgrades on that $70K Pro, but, I can bet that the reason why it’s still sitting there on their lot...banks not financing the add-ons.

2017 pro cement taco with 16k miles sold the same day it was listed locally for $45k two months ago. Someone from Costa Rica bought it. Some people don’t care about paying a few thousand extra, if what they want is in limited supply they will buy it.

I loved the pro when it first came out when I had my ‘11 Tacoma. It was the ‘15 series in only the inferno color. I “just had to have it” but didn’t. I followed Toyota before it was released and never jumped on it when it came out. I now have a sr5 tundra in inferno. Without the makeup it’s no different than what we have now with a sr5 and saving thousands of dollars with basics upgrade. But I guess you pay for the true “pro” badge and some people like the trueness of it.
