Has anyone removed front bumper ends? Ifso any pointers? Wanted to remove chrome eventually, so any bumper-mod or paint-job pics would be great

I found 2 new OEM black plastic end caps on Ebay for $150 shipped. They'll be for sale after black Friday as I plan to go with an aftermarket front bumper.

I just removed my chrome end caps last week and put black ones on instead.

Looks for some videos on YouTube for bumper removal videos / aftermarket front bumper install.

    Some things I learned:
Remove the grill first, it’s pretty easy, just 4 bolts and the 2 plastic pins in the top. Once that is off, remove the body pieces that are under the headlights next - there are two plastic pins that are accessible now that the grill is removed. Take those out and then it just pops off. Remove the wheel well liner between the bumper and tire (you don’t need to remove the mud flap separately). Once that is off, disconnect the fog light cable from the fog light. You can just leave the cable attached to the body. Follow the parking sensor cable up to where it connects to the connector behind the grill and disconnect them. The cable can stay attached to the bumper cover and the whole thing can come off with the bumper. Remove the 3 screws under the bumbler cover that attach the lower cowl to the skid plate area. Remove the 4 large 13mm bolts under the headlights that hold the bumper cover on (2on each side). Now you can take off the entire front bumper cover and end caps as one piece.

Then remove the white plastic clip holding the parking sensor in place (it just slides off). Then wiggle and push the parking sensor part way forward through the hole and the use a small flat head to remove the parking sensor from the plastic circle grommet. Then pull the parking sensor back out and take it off. Now you can remove the bolts, nuts, pins that attach the chrome end cap to the center bumper cover.

If you are replacing it with black or color matched the new caps have a slightly different hole for the parking sensor. Just use a knife, dremmel, or file to shave off a little bit of the nubs in that hole so the round parking sensor grommets fit. Align the parking sensor with the grommet and snap in, then attach the white clip and the parking sensor will no longer be loose or wiggly.
Put the new bumper cover back on in the reverse order and attach your cables.

Now that I’ve done it once I kinda want to do it again and make a video.

I read a few posts where people said they removed the end cap without taking off the whole bumper cover and I tried that and found it much more difficult. It’s actually pretty easy to just remove the whole thing.

    silverhack,

I hate you!!! Just kidding, but I am envious because you have a color matched grille surround and hood bulge on your Limited and it looks like you kept the actual grille with the radar sensor. I want to do the same thing to my 2018 Limited (Midnight Black) and contacted Roman (vendor here) but was told that the Platinum grilles for the 2018 are not available yet.

Would you mind sharing how you went about of getting your surround color matched? Also like to know if you were able to just buy the painted surround and bulge because I wouldn't mind keeping my actual grille piece for simplicity and savings.

    Thanks.

Yes, a video would really be helpful to anyone removing their bumper for the first time. Do it!

I ordered the TRD Pro grill from Roman. Then I sold the insert and kept my 2018 insert. You should be able to do the same.

I just got mine wrapped lol. Cheaper and quicker. I like the black, I have mine color matched but debating on wrapping it black to match bottom.
