So the radio Antenna mast snapped off the base yesterday leaving the threads in the mount and nothing protruding , Anyone else suffered this and if so how did you get the threads out of the base to replace the mast ?

Happened to me a couple years ago. I tried to use a left handed drill bit and get it to come out. That didn’t work for me, so I ordered a new one and replaced the entire antenna mast.

I tried this as well. Didn't work and I started to strip the top threads because my bit was too large. Hasn't bena big problem yet but I am expecting to replace the whole thing eventually.

@jdg1982 How hard was it to replace the whole thing?

took me 3 hours to replace the entire thing. there is really only one useful video i could find, and you have to watch it backwards because it starts with everything disassembled...the video shows you how to put it all back together though.

the issue is corrosion. the mast rusts at the base, which allows it to break more easily. if you replace it or have someone else do it, be sure to coat all the threaded connections on the replacement antenna with dialectic grease to prevent it from happening again. and get a stubby antenna.

It wasn't too difficult, just time consuming. There's a lot that comes off. The wheel well liner, the glove box and underneath the passenger dash, the passenger A pillar. grab handle. The antenna connects under the A pillar.

I followed a video, I think. I'll search for it.

I just got mine out last week. Drilled a ting hole in the stud and I had a drill bit with a flat head on the tip and put in reverse and it slowly came out.'

What stubby antenna has been satisfactory for a replacement?
