you can keep your headlights on all the time, they turn off after you shut off the truck.

I really don't want to have to run my lights during the day. I just like to have the Gauge Cluster lit when the key is in the Run position.

I looked after reading this. My dash and gauge lights come on when the key is on. Are you sure yours aren't on?

Yep I'm sure. My 05 tacoma lights would come on with the ignition.....but not the 16 Tundra.

about to create another thread asking for help about this issue.

I tried to find a button the crank up the dash light but none can be found. Is there such a button....It's dark this morning, headlights are OFF and I can barely see these needles.

@Nor7 please take a look at yours dash with headlights are OFF? Thanks.

You should have a dial down there to the left of your steering wheel or something similar. I remember messing with it once or twice. I'll upload a pic next time I'm in my truck. Make sure your headlight knob is all the way off, my dash lights are brighter when the headlight knob is all the way off. If it's half way (running lights), the dash dims like when the headlights are on.

This morning I could barely see the gauge lights after the sun came up on my drive to work and I had to turn my headlights off and all the dash lights and panels (time and MPG) brightened back up.

Hmm, just realized you've got the 3rd gen. The layout might be different for you but I'd be surprised if it didn't have this functionality.

My 2013 had the dash lights on all the time, my 2016 only come when I turn the parking lights or head lights on.

Yeah, I'm the same way. When the headlights off, the dash lights are not on, and it is hard to see at times. I've wondered why that way, but just getting used to it. While on the dash subject, I'm really disappointed with the LCD cluster options. No TPM system display, no trip information display, etc. My wife's Tacoma TRD Sport has all kinds of info in the LCD cluster.

I had trouble with this at first too. To increase the brightness of the dash lights, turn the odometer reset button clockwise.

This setup is unintuitive to me. The dash lights should have its own button/dial.

I found this too after cleaning the dash and gauge area, my dash lights went out! No worries, just adjusted the odometer rest knob to the right that was hidden somewhat by the steering wheel and it tends to blend in with the black dash (depending upon your view). Got me though for a few minutes...

Item #6 on page 89 of the manual talks about the dash lights.

Ya I just checked that too. The display changes illumination, but the rest of the dash won't change unless the lights are on. Oh well :)
