Did you cut off the white plastic tabs on the bottom of the shift knob?

Do I have to replace the shifter rod if I get the Tacoma shift knob? Going to do the whole boot like you guys and the Tacoma Pro Shifter Knob.

I wasn't up for the boot either and decided to use some black pipe, tapped to put in 3 set screws at the bottom and painted black it covers most of the silver transmission rod. taped at top for now still working on that part...

    Cheers

How did you install the shift boot and keep the gear selectors visible? I like this a lot more than covering it?

There are some cheap Taco knobs on eBay now, though you can still spend $95 if you want. Other options are like $35. Not sure where you get the boot from and also still don't quite understand how folks are fitting the boot on and retaining the gear indicators.
