    Hey Everyone

I'm trying to figure out a problem I have with my truck. I have a clicking/slapping sound when I am traveling at speeds from start to 30 35 mph. Its definitely metal on metal sound as if something rotating is slapping against another metal piece not sure. It happens on acceleration and deacelerration sometimes it's a single tap sometimes its multiple. I recently changed u joints, carrier bearing, shocks and struts. Also had the driveshaft rebalanced. I still have the problem. I have 66,000 miles warranty up at 60,000. Lol go figure. I have seen similar threads saying something about CV joints or shaft, or differential crosspin somehow being loose and slapping around. Or differential bearings. If someone has an idea or having same issue please help out

    thanks.

Welcome from Texas, have you crawled under to see anything loose or out of ordinary?

Thanks coming from New Jersey. To be honest I haven't. Not entirely for sure what I need to be looking for as far as something being loose.

Check your entire Drive Line shaft check your CV axle joints if it's a four-wheel drive

Is the clicking pretty consisted, almost timed? Is it sporadic and out of time?

Thanks ARamirez I'll be sure to do so. What should I feel, like loose? Etc... or have professional look at it?

    Hey Backslider,

Yea it's pretty consistent after I got ujoints and carrier bearing changed they also rebalanced the shaft, the guy said the shaft was really out of whack which explains slight vibration I had. Now no vibrations but that slapping sound isn't consistent. I seen someone with similar problem said it was their differential crosspin got loose. It happens accelerating from dead stop and coming to a stop. It happens when I turn at a dead stop too. I thought maybe transmission but clipping/ slapping sound doesn't happen same time with shifts.

I was having this issue after I changed the transmission fluid on my 2014 Toyota Tundra 5.7L. This was driving me insane and the clicking sound would happen when the truck was down shifting between 25-35 miles. I took into the dealership and like always they could not mimic the sound so what I did is add another half a quart of transmission fluid into the transmission and the clicking sound went away. I hope this resolves this issue problem because it was literally driving me insane…
    Good luck!
