2014 FFV Tundra

New to Tundras and an FFV for that matter. I've never used E85 in anything, mostly due to what I've heard it can do to your engine, what happens when you use it in a boat etc etc. I saw another thread where a TSB was referenced for increased frequency in oil changes (and linked, but it was more or less greek to me).

Since it CAN run E85, SHOULD I since it amounts to a cheaper fill up? If anyone does run it, what do you see your range per tank do?

 

most trucks' window stickers show the mileage between e85 and regular showing how much WORSE the fuel mileage is. i don't recommend it. i once calculated on my last tundra the cost difference between running cheaper fuel with worse mileage and you spend more money in the end. plus the more frequent oil changes adds to it. plus, once you put e85, i believe i saw that you have to keep running it, but don't quote me on that. hell....don't quote me on anything for that matter.

 

I'm sure the previous owner probably ran E85 at some point. I've only run regular, but would think that would be a really crappy design to make a fuel system that says "you can't go back" if you did put E85 in.

 

Check specs in manual to see whats allowed too

 

It's cheaper but it also burns up faster so you'll need to do more frequent fillups. Not to mention that others have had issues going back to regular gas after running it.
