Extend the wires and place the switches under the center console lip. It is such a natural place to access the switch. Plus the GF will never see you reach for it.

That’s for the this! I’ve seen most of the locations on this thread and do like tht location a lot! Right under the fingertips! I’m about to sit in my truck after dinner and think about it further.

Read read read… Think about it for a week… measure twice….cut once

    Exactly!

    Don't do what I did.

I placed the switch too low on my first cut because I didn't take into account the shifter surround panel when I put the switches in (red line in the picture).
I had to make a plate to mount the switches about a quarter inch higher after this picture was taken. It's a little ugly (why I haven't posted THAT picture) but it's in a place where you can barely see it any way.

My plan is to design a 3D printed mount for the switches that looks better. But that is fairly low on my priority list at the moment.

hahaha I specifically noted your post and told myself that “don’t do this” lol. I’m going to mark the holes before disassembly. Appreciate everyone that cut their truck up before me… you the real mvps

Glad my mistake can potentially save someone the same pain.

My closest neighbor is over 150 yards away.

I'm sure they CLEARLY heard my swearfest when I realized what I did.

This location is great, but you need to watch how high up on that face you place the switch. Once you pop the panel off, you can see where the obstructions are.

    - The goldilocks zone.. not too high.. not too low.. just right..
    - @TundraTex - good website with a lot of info, active on the forum and Great on communication, great on deliveries (just received tracking and mine will arrive tonight at 9pm), maybe a quick paper template printed on the instructions for the next continuous improvement? (lol mostly kidding but an idea, because I imagine a lot of guys like me get super excited busting our our tools, drilling holes)

if it makes you feel any better @PixelPusher I just built a queen bed frame in the guest BDRM and my lady insisted that we install LED lights on the underside for a nice mood effect and have a toggel switch for on/off mounted on the side of the bed, busted out the dewault and an wood arbour... easy peasy... NOPE! the faceplate for the switch overhangs the topside of the beframe ever so slightly... i didn't curse (loud) because it wasn't on my truck. :)

@Brendybobby Great Idea! In fact my instructions do provide a template for the optional switch bezel I provide. This can be used for installation anywhere else as well. The switch needs a 20mm hole and the mounting flange has just shy of 1mm overhang. Beyond that, there are so many variations on location that I could never capture them all! Plus, what fun is a mod without some sweaty palms and that adrenaline before making the first cut!?! :sawzall:

Someone said it before; measure twice, cut once. Thanks for the kind words and suggestions.

I’m all hooked up and running! Been too busy to post. Have my switches just hanging loose until I finally decide exactly where I want em! Also might remount camera in a diff location so I can see the bumper end caps better. FYI to others might be worth considering a wide angle camera.. more to come! Overall very Happy w the purchase

I put the amber "Raptor" lights and used the spot where the camera had been. Put it below the T emblem and I think it's just too low. Anyone mount it off center and have any feedback on whether that's doable/acceptable/usable? Might just be a personal preference thing I suppose

I put it below and to the driver's side of the emblem. I posted pictures of the location and what the picture on the head looks like. You have a different grill than I have. I'm not sure what you have for options.

I've been happy with it, but like many things, YMMV.

I actually think I like it under the emblem now that I've used it a bit, however, I've got to tilt it just a hair so I can see just a few more feet in front and it'll be perfect. Going to cut down and angle a plastic, thick "washer" of sorts I think to make it sit like I'm picturing.

Came across this in search for a head unit to handle a second camera. Might not upgrade head unit now and just do this, but do want carplay as well, so may end up with some merge of the two approaches. Maybe just go with one input HU and this. Certainly opens the field up to more choices. This product looks really good and love the offering of pro looking switches, etc. I am curious though, and if this is considered proprietary by Lou I understand if no reply is offered. Does this approach spoof the reverse gear signal to make head unit show video or will head unit show video if its present and camera power is the control? If front camera is selected and reverse gear is selected do you get rear camera video?

If you have the front camera selected and shift into reverse, the rear camera will display. When you shift out of reverse, the front camera will come back on.

Gotta love this forum and the FRAC nation! Most questions are answered quicker than I get to them... and more importantly, Correctly answered!

I wanted to maintain all OEM functionality when I designed the FRAC circuit, so shifting into reverse always overrides whatever is being displayed at the time. Then shifting out of reverse reverts to what was there before.

Honestly, the thanks goes to you.

You developed a system that is completely plug and play that requires ZERO modifications to install other than the mounting of the camera and switches. Plain and simple... It just works. That said, the only modifications I made to my truck as for the switches. I was able to use existing holes to mount the camera.

I installed my FRAC harness back in June of last year. It is one of the best things I've done to the truck.

Got it installed today. Works great! I put the VIM switch in blank spot next to cargo light switch and grabbed ILL+/- from there. Put the Front/rear switch in the group of 3 to right of column with tow and VSC. The blank spot was closest to column so I swapped the TOW switch over to there and put the F/R in right most spot. That required a little trimming as the factory switches and holes are keyed so had to trim the hole a bit. Grabbed the Ground and ILL+/- from the unused trailer brake connector. Used the Natica camera as I could not find the one that goes in logo anywhere. Worst part of the job was trying to cut the firewall gasket (I didnt remove any kick panels so had to wrestle the sound mat). The spade connector mates I got at local HW store turned out to be incompatible so resorted to butt splice connectors.

    Very happy. Thanks Lou!

It depends on the grille you have. The honeycomb grill is easiest - just choose which hole to mount it in. Other grilles are not as easy to work with, especially with the big Toyota emblem with the sensors behind it.

I haven't really gone out and looked to closely at the back side of the grill. This is me...
    upload_2023-1-31_20-52-50.jpg

...looking at it from here, it would be nice it would mount up between the Y and the O, just above the TSS :notsure:

A lot of great ideas here, so I generally like to see if someone found a bracket/mount style that worked well before I reinvent the wheel.

Could use this plate to mount a camera into one of the grill openings, either above or below the TOYOTA, whichever you prefer. I believe there have been pictures of it posted somewhere in this thread. I plan to use their mount for the Sport grill when I install one.

If you have the Pro grill, I placed mine in the middle, where you normally installed the YotaLed Raptor lights. Plus its all depend on the camera you have as well that fit to the spot. The camera I used is 51Zsne7yfZL._AC_SL1500_.jpg I added heavy duty 3M double sided tape. Been holding up fine.

I'm pretty sure we all had to make our own brackets. I don't know of a bracket for this that you can buy. This is what I did, but I have a different grille.
