If it has not been claimed yet, may I have it?

EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot that I have already ordered a camera. I should have checked BEFORE posting!

Received mine today! I won't get to install it until I get my fence repaired from Sally, but at least it's here!

Not sure if this was asked, but can you add a media player with this harness to play on the radio display?

No, but there are solutions for that depending on if you want to mirror your phone or play from a thumb drive.

Just submitted my order! The local TintWorld just did my windows, and they have great reviews. I had a good experience. They also do AV installs, and they said they'd charge me $175 to do this job. I also have a 20% off coupon from the window tinting job...so I'm looking at $140. Seems great to me! I'm semi-handy but scared of pulling apart the dash and don't like wiring! I'll show him the YouTube vid from Lou and let him have at it! Any other tips before I turn it over to them? (2018 DC w/bench)

@sludgepickle be sure to look at the attachments you'll get with your shipping notice e-mail. I provide a one-page quick install guide and a 6-page detailed installation manual. They provide all the information required for an easy install.

Just got the frac harness from Lou - incredible customer service and quality product. I got through most of the install tonight but need to finish tomorrow. Can anyone help me with the following questions as it relates to the connections?

    1. The Nakita camera I received seems to be nice quality. I am using this for a front camera so I assume I will cut the white wire loop, as it says in the instructions. Just making sure before I cut anything.

    2. I have connected both trigger wires to the frac harness. I still need to get a ring terminal for the ground. However, I am confused as to where I connect the power wire (says reverse lamp) on the backyard instructions. Do I have to connect this wire or is this accomplished by the frac harness?

I am including the instructions from the camera hoping that someone can help answer. I just don’t want to fry any electronics or screw up cutting something I shouldn’t. Thanks is advance.

Never mind, I am dumb. It plainly states on Lou’s instructions to terminate and insulate and the red power wire for reverse lamps. That’s accomplished from his harness.

I will cut the white wire loop and finish installing the switches today.

A couple things. The white wire is normally cut for front view, but I like to leave it intact until everything is connected and tested. I’ve heard a few cases where the wire’s function was reversed, so I’d cut it after confirming everything is working and it needs to be cut.

For the camera connections, all the cameras have some variation In their wiring, but fundamentally you want the red FRAC power wire to provide power to the camera. So for this camera I would connect the FRAC Red power wire to the “B” red trigger wire. Then connect the “D” red wire to the “C” red wire. Then as you said, terminate the red wire in the red/black pair and connect the black to chassis ground.

I cut the white wire and all works great. Thanks Lou.

But my dumb ass took the grill off, measured exact center and mounted the camera.......which just so happens to be right in front of the pre collision sensor. So I took it off and moved it down below the sensor and all is good now.

All in all, Lou’s harness is worth every penny, very high quality and easy to install (when you pay attention)! Thanks Lou

Front Camera location: 2018 honeycomb grill - obvious choice seems like right below the Toyota "T" badge. 2nd choice maybe between the gap in the black plastic of the bumper cover. Thoughts on both spots? I think I'll put it right below the T badge, but later if I put a light bar in, that spot seems prime for a bar, so I may move the camera down to the black bumper cover gap...

I like the spot right below the emblem. Keeps the camera high enough to see the ground closer to the front bumper. The lower you mount it, the more the bumper can block the view.

8FBF37D7-94D2-4824-B7E8-F3EDAC447CAC.jpg I installed the switches for the front camera last night after work. They’re out of sight and are functional. I had to notch the plastic cross member behind the trim panel to allow for the spade connectors to recess far enough to snap the trim back in but was easy and painless. Attaching a picture to show the finished product

Awesome work. Nice clean installation. I really like that location for the switches.

Here is the idea I came up with.

I used the following from Lowe’s to mount my camera for my honeycomb grille...

    2” mending braces
    3” mending braces
    misc. machine screws

I used the two OEM mounting points for the pre-collision sensor to avoid drilling into the grille. This allows for rigidity and holds the camera securely. It has almost been a year and so far, so good. Hope this helps, best.

That looks great! I'm going to modify this idea to fit my 1794 grill. Unfortunately there is no way to perfectly center the camera in the grill, but I will only be offset by about 1 1/4" with where I plan to put it.

When I first mounted my front camera it was too high. I purchased the license place camera and mounted it just above the plate.

@TundraTex - what is the timing on your camera switch? (And VIM switch too) I would like to add those to my install. I have to say that parking in the garage using the FRAC is much better than the hanging tennis ball!!

@Saab95v6 - Sorry I am slow. If you have not yet installed your camera then you can look at post #1446 which shows that I used 1" x 1" aluminum angle 1" long (as Lou suggests) then trimmed the plastic on the grill and used 3M VHB to mount it. Not as sturdy as the master @ElNopal 's solution but works very well.

Sadly, the manufacturer seems unable or unwilling to produce a switch that meets my spec and quality standards. Not to mention maintaining a promised schedule. I’m back to the drawing board on this. It’s extremely frustrating dealing with these companies sometimes.
