Thanks for that, looks like it records over itself so thats perfect. I just place an order for the FRAC harness.

Thinking about putting the switches on the front of the console just below the lid and to the left of the lid switch, looks to be plenty of room and not in the way of anything. My arm rests there so I wouldn't have to even move much to turn it on.

I just processed your invoice. Thanks for the order.

Yes. Loop recording is nice. You never need to touch it unless you need the video.

A couple guys have put their switches in that console location. It's a good spot. However, the FRAC switch lines are 3 feet long so you'll need to extend them a bit.

Finally got around to moving the camera lower. It’s a way better view and I like the location better. I also clipped the wire to remove the guide bars.

What about recording front and rear so it would function like a dashcam? Also does the rear still pop up when the truck is put in reverse?

Hello, Question... Has anyone posted a comparison of camera placement in a low or high elevation on the grill? My guess is more visual info the higher the camera is placed. Thoughts, feedback, or experiences about this requested. Thanks y’all

Yes I have two posts on this thread with pics, you want it low :)

I thought higher would be better but I think I'm getting a much better view low.

So from what I understand you can install a mini DVR (listed below) for the front camera, this would be easy because you could do it right at the camera. You could do it at the harness at the HU and I'm going to assume, but not sure you should be able to intercept the rear at the HU as well? But Frac would have to verify.

Yes the rear camera overrides all modes when you go into reverse.

BTW I'm considering upgrading the OEM camera, the front is sooo much better.

These two links should take you to the post on this thread. Not great comparison because they are not side by side of the same thing...

Post 1370 is when it was high
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/201...amera-frac-harness.13633/page-46#post-1776596

post 1388 is when I put it low
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/201...amera-frac-harness.13633/page-47#post-1796670

You could also do like I did and just mount with tye wraps and leave slack, easy enough to move..

BTW I even went lower than what I was thinking it's just above the lic plate now

I'm installing my FRAC and I'm going to be looking for a new rear camera, the factory on sucks.

I bought this one it works great, installed everything works fine however the only issue is that when I switch from the reverse camera to no camera via the switch I see the front camera view briefly then my regular screen. When I switch from the front view to radio it’s fine it’s only when I manually switch from reverse view and back is when the front camera comes on briefly then off. Any idea why?

The FRAC Harness breaks out both the Front and Rear cameras to an RCA connector. The rear Cam RCA has an A (Aft) printed on it. You can add an extension cable to this connector and wire in a second Rear DVR just like you can in the front.

The FRAC is designed to always display the rear cam when reverse is selected - no matter what position the camera switch is in.

This is normal operation. The FRAC switching circuit operates slightly faster than the Head Unit video mode switcher. So whenever you switch out of viewing the rear camera (either with the switch or when shifting out of Reverse), You may see a momentary display of the forward cam.

Hidy, Installed frac and camera. I’m leaving plenty of slack to move camera way up or down. Can’t get front camera to work... ? The extension wire has a long red& black wire coming from camera end - I grounded black and connected red to frac red. The other end of extension wire has a red on it and the instructions call it “Trigger”. I didn’t connect it to anything. Yer help is requested please. Thank you, Scott

Forward looking camera, Stub Antenna, 3M clearshield. A few other non lifted items.
I’m Not sure which camera you have.... I have one with a connector that was snug (to be waterproof) and Camera did not work. It turned out I did not have it (the connector)pushed in all the way. The arrows on the connector were off line by 20 degrees I discovered.
